Cannot delete failed tasks from Acronsi Management Server

Thread needs solution

Looking at the Alerts at the top of the dashboard of my Acronis Management Server I see that I have one failed task. When I click 'Show tasks" to view the tasks I see a failed validation task listed.

The task is running and won't stop. Of course, the Delete option is unavailable. Also, the task is from an obsolete (deleted) backup plan and does not show up on the machine the deleted backup plan was assigned to.

I have tried the tool, schedmgr.exe but it just deleted tasks from the local machine account, not the Management Server.

Please advise on how to erase\clear the task.

Hello Dave!

Welcome to Acronis Forum, we are glad to greet you here! I completely understand your concern and will be glad to assist you.

Actually Scheduler is a part of the Agent, so deleting the task from the local account means entire deleting of the backup plan, though it can be still listed in the Management Server. But after running Schedmgr.exe it can be safely deleted from the Management Server manually.

You can also delete the tasks following the below steps:

  1. Run Schedmgr.exe and issue the following command:
    task zap
  2. Delete the content of the following folders:
Windows XP, Windows 2000/2003 (32/64 bit)
    - \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Policies\
    - \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\TasksStorage\
    - \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\PolicyStatistics
Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 (32/64 bit)
    - \ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\Policies\
    - \ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\TasksStorage\
    - \ProgramData\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\MMS\PolicyStatistics
  3. Recreate the tasks

This should resolve the issue faced.

We would appreciate if you could kindly keep us posted regarding this case.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!

support has been busy for 2 hours on our server to solve the problem. They didn't succeed and closed the session suddenly. Later i found the solution myself.
You have to remove the acronisesxappliance from the esx(i) server where the virtual machine you try to backup or restore is located. Then install a new acronisappliance with the same name and ip and register it in the acronis management server. Your stopping or waiting tasks will be gone.

Support sent me a mail that the disconnection was a technical issue and that they would contact me again. The long hours they took to help me and mailing me about the disconnected support chat is for me a sign that support is ok (in my case). I have read a lot of negative things about support from Acronis, so I think it is important to put this in the forum. (I am not an employee of Acronis, i work at Utrecht University)
