Hi,

Using Acronis True Image 11 Home and I'm trying to do a restore from my USB HD to a IDE HD, However during the restore process (launched from the ATI Boot CD) I get an error message "cannot find file", I cancel the restore process and the USB HD is missing from the drive listing.

I rebooted from the ATI Boot Disk and the USB Drive was available, so I continued by selecting an archive from the USB HD and again at some point the process failed and the USB HD was missing again!

Was having a different issue which was fixed by re-creating the ATI Boot CD, however I'm now running in to this issue.

TIA

Darren

If you're connecting the USB drive to a hub or front port, try connecting it directly to a USB port in the back of the computer.

Are you using the latest build of TI 11 (8,101 or later)?

Have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread?

Does the USB drive vanish before the restore begins (during the Restore Wizard steps) or after the restore has started?

Hi Mudcrab,

The USB is plugged in the back of the Computer.

Running Build 8,101 (Do I need to re-create the Boot CD against this build?)

Drive vanishes during the restore

This happened again tonight see image see http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e369/dgulliver/DSC_0067.jpg

will try out quiet acpi=off noapic now

 Thanks for the reply

Darren

If the TI CD is an earlier build, then definately create a new CD using build 8,101. It may fix the problem. You can check the Help >> About menu when booted to the TI CD to see what build it is.

Have you run a chkdsk /r scan on the USB drive to check for any bad sectors?

MudCrab,

Small update, Came home tonight and moved all my tib files to an IDE HD. Performed chkdsk /r and found no errors, Thought I'd format the USB HD in question now at 01:05am only 60% formatted - lol, I am away this weekend so I wont be able to try the restore process until tuesday at the latest.

Will post back next week.

Thanks for your help so far.

Darren

Hello Darren,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

If nothing helps, I would recommend you to create another Acronis Bootable Rescue Media based on ISOLINUX.

We have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products section -> Bootable media. Download the file.

You can find more information on how to burn an ISO image to a CD here  and  here .

Thank you.
