"Failed to reboot the Computer
Cannot reboot windows. You probably do not have enough priviliges to perform the operation.

Hey, I am am the only user.
HP_ Administrator.
I did many full clones using TI 9 build 3854.
Yesterday I did a full clone with TI 2010
did a backup today to another partition. complete.
Tried today four (4) times only to get the above message.

Do I dump TI 2010 and go back to TI 9 which I completely uninstalled.

What a crock!

Hi:

I get the same error "Cannot reboot windows. You probably do not have enough priviliges to perform the operation." using Acronis 2010 Home doing a complete clone using the Tools and Utilities menu selection.

Also loged in under the only user account setup as an administrator.

What course of action should be taken to resolve this issue.

Where do I go on MY system to TELL ME that its my computer and not Acronis's and set MY Computer to Do what I ask it to do. " Like Push here Dummy"
See the latest Jpg.

ERnie et All

Work around with TI-2010 re Administrator(s) and "Not enough privileges"

After some meditation
I tried and succeeded.
1. Make a Media CD as a "rescue Disk" and use full version.
2. Insert CD and reboot.
3. The TI-2010 will appear and choose the Full version (Not windows)
4. You can choose from the listing, but I found that choosing from favorites it worked more to my liking.
5. Choose Clone and Manual, and go from there.
I had no problem making two "Clone” copies of” the HD on my system.
Then updated the My documents to the latest save and redid the clone process.
All without a glitch.
Heads up Acronis Team. Posted ten (10) days ago and no input?
Do your testing.

RE:cannot reboot windows. you probably do not have enough priviledges to perform the operation. Apparently this is a common and persistent problem which Acronis has not adequately addresses.

I purchased a 1 TB Western Digital SATA internal HDD and need to clone my existing drive to the new wone. A WD version of Acronis come with the deal so I tried it and received the above error no matter if I run from dist or from existing old hard drive. I am running as administrator and went to the user account control in vista and gave qdmin and everyone else permission to try to work around this BS. I turned off the firewall and do not have windows defender. No success and no way to get any help on the matter. It appears that IF it worked this would be a nice and efficient way to do things. Unfortunately since folks have been posting this problem all over the internet and on this forum without resolution it may be useless for those of us with this apparently common problem.

I am always doubtful of companies who do not offer some type of immediate support and defer to knowledge bases and forums making you wait hours and even days for a response. Or, as in this case make you pay for phone support to fix problems with their software! When you have a problem, you typically need an answer or solution right away.

I have spent at least 2 full days looking for a resolution and I have to give up and move on. I thought about upgrading from Vista to windows 7, but that would be a bad idea to introduce two unknowns into a problem situation at the same time and I am afraid of losing all my data and software.

Rick and others, many users here got better results using the free Macrium Reflect. See if it will work for you.

I wonder if this is a User Account Control issue? Or a "run as administrator" issue? Even if you are the administrator, some programs have to be run with "elevated priveleges", perhaps this is one of them?

Thanks DwnNdrty!
Well in frustration, went to Offix MAX and purchased a copy ($39.95) It still does not work even using the rescue disk! Using that method, the Acronis boots up, but you cannot select anything because the mouse driver is apparently loaded.

I decided that I would just buy the year of support, but apparently you have to be one of the dumb companies stupid enough to purchase Corporate software from these folks. The only option I could get was the pay per incident. What a frustration to spend about 3 days and cannot even pay then to help you (besides a pay per incident). Clearly they are not responding to the issue.

Will pay the 9.95 just to get someone on the line and I am going to never admit that it is fixed! I doubt if it can be fixed.

I think everyone needs to put up a web page about acronis and send reviews to the tech review sites and tweet the living daylights out of them. Have you seen the response time on email support? Gimme a break.

If you've purchased your product recently, you can get free "live chat" support. They have solved issues for me before, and are solving this one for me now . . .

http://www.acronis.com/contactsupport.html?d=2

Alternatively . . .
http://www.acronis.com/support/advantage.html

Alternatively . . .
http://www.acronis.com/support/
click in lower right: "Start Here" button (you should be logged into the site)
It allows you to choose what product, OS, etc. you are working with . . . and I've gotten VERY good results this way.

Description of actual problem . . . apparently there are some Acronis registry items (in my case, in XP sp3) that must be present and have appropriate permissions attached to them. Support is sending me an email with more details, but I don't think they are needed. All you should have to do to solve this problem is install the latest upgrade (which will re-register everything) or uninstall and re-install the software. In my case, I just installed the latest upgrade (did not require an uninstall) and it worked instantly.

More than likely this is something that a program like "ccleaner" has cleaned up in the registry.

Folks . . . contrary to the posts above, I have found Acronis to be more responsive than most other application providers . . . use the online chat . . . they actually know what they are doing and it appears they have a support (CRM) system that helps them through issues. Better, if you can, to do the chat on a different computer sitting next to the one you have issues with.

Good luck!

(PS . . . I'm staging a multi boot computer . . . currently triple booting XP, Vista, W7 . . . and soon will be adding Ubuntu for a quad boot . . . so far, Acronis has handled everything almost flawlessly and far better than ANY other tool I've used! I'm sure there are other good alternatives, but so far I've been VERY satisfied with Acronis, both in functionality of the software, ease of use, and their customer support!!!)

CUSTOMER SUPPORT RESPONSE (very quick, within minutes of communicating the problem)

Hello Michael,

This side Vishal Vij from Acronis Customer Central. You were connected with me regarding your issue with Acronis True Image Home 2010 software - unable to clone as getting Failed to reboot error mesage after initiating clone hard disk task.

I will request you to please perform the steps mentioned below to check the permissions settings in Registry and then observe the issue.

Cause

Acronis software addresses to the following value in Windows registry when requesting a reboot:

Click on Start button, click on Run, In Run box, type REGEDIT and hit enter, it will open Registry window. On left hand side, click on +

Registry key:

Click on + HKEY_Local_Machine and similarly navigate to the following folders

\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

Value: BootExecute
(TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ)

If the value is missing or does not have the necessary permissions type, then the request for reboot fails.

Solution

Please check if the customer has full control over the registry key. Right-click on it and select Permissions.

Click on + HKEY_Local_Machine and similarly navigate to the following folders after it as mentioned below

HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager

If checking Permissions does not reveal any problem, then a new value needs to be created.

Right-click in the value field of the registry key and select New -> Multi-String Value.

Create BootExecute
(TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ).

Registry key: HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Value: BootExecute (TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ)

Please let me know, if you have any other questions. I will leave your case open until you confirm this resolves your issue. I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Vishal Vij

Hello all,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Erich, let me help you with the issue.

If you have already added the following value:

  • Registry key: HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
  • Value: BootExecute (TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ)

and checking permissions (right-click on the registry key and select Permissions) doesn't reveal any problems, I need some additional information from your side to investigate the issue and provide you with a solution.

  1. Please gather AcronisInfo tool output as described at this KB article and attach it to your reply to this thread;
  2. Please export HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager registry branch (right-click on the branch and select Export) and also attach it to your reply.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I have cloning problem, too in Windows XP SP3 i.e. "Failed to reboot the computer...privilegies..." and if I restart something like "no Acronis script found". Should Vishal Vij's instructions to Michael Stutz 2009-11-30 solve the problem or are there any newer instructions?
Should I remove and reinstall Acronis Home 2010?
It is unclear for me what Vishal means with:
Right-click in the value field of the registry key and select New -> Multi-String Value <<< until here ok but then?
Create BootExecute
(TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ). << should I type "REG_MULTI_SZ" and if yes where ?

Registry key: HKEY_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Value: BootExecute (TYPE: REG_MULTI_SZ)

Could Vishal or someone else to clarify?

This is what I get when I export the key to a file:

End of key info.
The actual text seen on screen for the key is as follows:
ab BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ autocheck autochk * autopartnt autopartnt autopartnt autopartnt autopartnt autopartnt

End of text.
Just what should be inserted to replace this text? It seems a simple question, but could open a minefield. Would be great if it would just allow this program to do what it is supposed to do.

have had the program over a year; first time i asked it to restore and it doesn't work! E000A03EE UNABLE TO GET VOLUME FOR THE LETTER FILE. then: CANNOT REBOOT WINDOWS YOU MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH PRIVILEGES TO REBOOT.
hUH...all i wanted to restore were my emails, a little over 1 gig. i have read the preceding posts and i don't see any solution listed after all this time?????????????? very disappointing and frustrating...and negatively enlightening....all this time i thought my data was safe and easy to restore.

My boot execute registry has autocheck autochk * as  its value . But neither true image 13 or true image 11 will reboot. They both show the same error code E000A03EE. This occurs when attempting to clone a disk while running windows 7 operating system. Any one know the solution to what appears to be a common problem?

Dick, cloning should only ever be attempted when booting from the Acronis bootable rescue media, and not from within Windows.

If you don't have the bootable rescue media then you can create it from within the ATIH application using the Rescue Media Builder, or download an ISO CD image file from your Acronis account provided you have registered your products.
