ATI2017 clarification about subscriptions please

I'm currently on TI2016 (3-pcs, no-cloud)
Whatever I buy/subscribe to, I want all updates / latest versions etc.
My questions are:
1-time purchase option - so no updates/fixes at all to the version initially downloaded ?
1-year subscription - has updates, but what happens after 1 year, does subscription simply expire, does it auto-renew, or do I have to cancel ?
2-year subscription - has updates for 2 years, but what happens when ATI2018 comes out ? - do I get (ATI2017 for 1 year, then ATI2018 for 1 year), or am I stuck on ATI2017 for 2 years ?

Thank you for your posting! With a perpetual (1-time purchase) license you'll get all the available updates within Acronis True Image 2017 version, just like in previous releases.
As for the subscription: once the subscription expires (after 1 or 2 years), all functionality will be blocked. You can either activate an auto-renewal (this option is available when purchase a new subscription) or purchase a new subscription for another year on our website. Here you will find more information. If a new major version is released while your subscription is active - your subscription will be automatically upgraded to the higher version.

Thanks for the information (I've been a perpetual license holder for years), but I even after reading those KB articles I'm none the wiser
