Windows 10 System Restore Show More Restore Points Box Missing and Restore Points Being Deleted or Missing

Recently my PC had a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) and went into "Windows 10 Automatic Repair couldn’t repair your PC” infinite loop death spiral after I let Windows automatically fix a driver problem. I had to reinstall Windows 10 from a Dell recovery image, then run Windows Update through the Creator edition, and then recovery of all of my data from Acronis backups. As a result, my PC is in a very clean state right now which is a good thing.]
All manual restore points that I create are gone in a few days as are any that are automatically created by System Restore. "Turn on system protection" is checked and on for the C: drive. "Max Usage" is about 28 GB. The "Show more restore points" check box is missing when I try to do a System Restore. On my laptop running Windows 10, the check box and restore points are not missing. I have posted this information on a Microsoft forum.

Hi Vasily,
Thanks for the reply. I looked at the other link and downloaded the NirSoft tool as I have used some other NirSoft tools. So I presented a problem. You presented a cause. What is the solution? That is what I am after.
Note that in my original post, I said that in System Restore, "Max Usage" is about 28 GB.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
Thank you for the details - in case the disk space occupied by system protection recovery points is not close to the limit, the described behavior looks like a bug which needs to be investigated with help from our support team. Please contact our support team for proper tracking of the resolution of the problem. The temporary workaround (to preserve the system restore points) should be to disable VSS backup option in the backup plan.
Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
I increased the System Restore "Max Usage" from about 28 GB to 55.78 GB before running my incremental backups last night and in the morning, all of the restore points were still there. So a 2x increase in "Max Usage", saved the restore points. I am continuing to test by adding a manual restore point each day to see if the storage for the restore points reaches a threshold were they are deleted again by Acronis.
How do I disable VSS backup option in the backup plan? In the Acronis Backup for PC 11.7, I see: Edit backup plan -> Items to back up... - Exclusions... which has 3 options: Exclude all hidden files and folders, Exclude all system files and folders, and Exclude all files matching the following criteria: I assume that I need to go with the 3rd option but I need to know what file location(s) to specify for Windows 10.
Exclude all files matching the following criteria: -> Add -> Filename, path, or mask
Sp what do I specify for Windows 10?
Thank you,
Steve

Hi Steve,
The VSS option can be disabled from Backup Options when configuring a backup plan - there is no need to define any files/folders exclusions for that:
Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
The menus that you are showing are from a different version of the software. Here are the menus for Acronis Backup for PC 11.7 in my latest upload file. What version are you showing me?
Thanks,
Steve

Steve, sorry for confusion - I've missread this thread and had Acronis Backup 12.5 version in mind.
The same VSS option is available in Acronis Backup 11.7 as well - you should check the "Plan parameters" section and click on "Backup options..." link:
The VSS option you need is described here: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_11.7/index.html#12865.html
Thank you.

Hi Vasily,
As noted above, I increased the System Restore "Max Usage" from about 28 GB to 55.78 GB before running my incremental backups, all of the restore points were still there. So a 2x increase in "Max Usage", saved the restore points. I have tested this successfully for about 2 weeks now so this works. I will use the standard Acronis Backup for PC 11.7 settings and not change the VSS option. I will make a note of you instructions for my records on this incident.
Thank you for your help.
Steve
