Aldo, welcome to these public User Forums.
The error message: Can't read slices: Error 0x40011: The specified file does not exist. would suggest there is a problem with reading the destination backup file for this backup task.
Check that the correct destination drive is connected to the computer and that it contains all the files created for this backup task.

The destination drive is the same used from another PC and it works without problems. Actually the backup from this laptop works and creates a file of 11 GB.The only problem is that it doesn't finish and I have an error.

How is the shared drive connected to this and the other PC?

it's a folder in a WD NAS. Same folder is used from another PC. Thanks

What type of connection is being used between the PC's and the WD NAS? Is this a wired network connection or wireless?
Note: I would strongly recommend using a separate destination folder for each different PC to avoid any issues that would be caused if both PC's create files with the same name and overwrite files from the other PC!

+1 As long as I can remember I have used separate folder for each backup task. It makes management of backups much easier (for me at any rate).

Aldo, can you try creating a new backup task going to the new folder on the NAS?

Hi,
yes I tried.New folder and new backup task but I have same error. My laptop is a windows 8.1 64 bit.

Aldo, let's step back a little here and start over!
What exactly are you backing up? Is this a Disks & Partitions backup or a Files & Folders one?
Are you able to do a backup of the same source data to an external USB backup drive without seeing any errors?
Can you confirm that you are running ATI 2021 build 39200 which I believe to be an OEM version, i.e. maybe from WD?

Hi, I'm doing the backup of "Entire PC" on a WD NAS. I don't have a WD USB to test. I used the same NAS to do a backup from another PC win 7 PRO and it is working correctly. The version is the one you said ATI 2021 build 39200.

If you are doing an Entire PC backup then you need to be looking at the Backup Worker logs if this was a new backup created on ATI 2021 using .tibx files.
You need to be using the new log viewer tool per the link below.
MVP Assistant - a new tool, including new Log Viewer (Latest version 1.1.4.0, 9/27/2021)
If you have Disks & Partitions backups created on ATI 2020 or later using .tibx files, then look in the Backup Worker logs.
If you have Files & Folders backups using .tib files (or Disk backups from earlier versions using .tib files) or using Cloning then look in the Demon logs.
Other logs are shown by the MVP Assistant under the 'Active Logs' heading of the Log Viewer page of the Assistant.
The log files should be zipped to preserve their original file names if sharing in the forums and would need to be less than 3MB in size, otherwise you would need to share the zip file via a Cloud share service such as OneDrive, Dropbox etc.

The backup worker log shows that the task is hitting a problem when trying to save the backup file to the NAS at the end of the process and cannot read the VSS snapshot data needed in order to do this!

Aldo, the new log shows the same error for failing to read the snapshot so the previous action advised is still needed to download and run the Acronis VSS Doctor tool to see what issues this reports and take the option to fix any errors if this is offered to you.

Aldo, the VSS Doctor log shows multiple errors being reported as below:
Timestamp: 26/10/2021 15:55:51
Type: Warning
Source: disk
Message: The IO operation at logical block address 0x2878 for Disk 0 (PDO name: \Device\0000002c) was retried.
InstanceId: -2147221351
SearchLink: https://www.google.com/#newwindow=1&q=disk+event+id+2147745945
I would recommend doing a full check of your Disk 0 drive given that the same block address is being reported in these warning messages.
Also check that the VSS service is correctly set to start up type as 'Manual' which is needed for correct operation.

Hi guys. I did chkdsk C: /f /r /x and scandisk and no errors was reported or fixed. Any idea?
Thanks

Aldo, the block being reported in the error message could be located in one of the hidden / system partitions on the drive which have no allocated drive letter to be used with CHKDSK.
You would need to try to allocate a drive letter then run CHKDSK against these, or else download a copy of the diagnostic tools available from the drive manufacturer and use these to check the whole drive for any issues.
Dedicated diagnostic utilities from the disk manufacturers take the longest time to complete the checks, but provide the most accurate methods of checking whether the disk is good or needs replacement:
- Western Digital drives: Western Digital Dashboard
- Seagate disks: SeaTools for Windows
- HGST disks: HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT)
- Intel SSDs: Intel Memory and Storage Tool (GUI)
- Samsung drives: Samsung Magician
- ADATA drives: ADATA SSD ToolBox
- Kingston SSDs: Kingston SSD Toolbox, Kingston SSD Manager
- Transcend SSDs: Transcend SSD Scope
- Silicon Power disks: SP ToolBox
- Toshiba disks: Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool Utility
- Crucial disks: Crucial Storage Executive
- SanDisk disks: SanDisk SSD Dashboard tool / SanDisk SSD Dashboard user guide

Aldo,
Open Windows Task Manager and click on the Services tab. At the bottom of the Task Manager window look for Open Services. A new window will open showing all System Services and their current state of operation. This list of services should be in alphabetical order. Look through the list for the service named Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider. The Start up type for this service should be set as Manual. If it is set to something else or is disabled then left click on the entry in the list to select it then hover your mouse pointer over the entry and right click on it. From the menu that appears select properties. In the Start up type field select Manual.

Hi Steve, Microsoft Software Shadow Copy Provider service was already set to manual. Thanks

Aldo, you may need to try a general SSD tool that can check the health of your Lite-On SSD - see webpage: Top 8 SSD Tools to Check SSD Health and Performance [MiniTool Tips] - for more information.

Hi Steve, I installed the program but I didn't find anything to check the health of the PC disk.I attached a screenshot. I though Disk benchmark but it shows only the partition assigned that I already checked with chkdsk.
Many thanks

Aldo, there is still something that you can do now that you have MiniTool PW installed, which is to assign a drive letter to each of the hidden / system partitions then use the option in PW to Check that partition for errors.
See the images below showing how to do this.
I just took the option to Check only. (Do not fix detected errors.) to do the checks. If any errors are found, then you can repeat the check using Check & fix detected errors, which will probably require a system restart to complete the repair.
The new drive letter should be removed again as shown above when the check is done.

Hi Steve, thanks for the detailed explanation.Actually I managed to assign a letter and check with no errors, every partition except one .For this one I see this menu in attachment and I'm not able to assign a letter. Many thanks.

Aldo, the GPT Reserved partition should be fine as it is not actually used for anything other than being reserved by Microsoft for some future use?

Hi Steve. So on every partition after I checked, I have no errors. So what can I do next to be able to do the backup? Many thanks
- Log in to post comments

Aldo, if you are still seeing the same error and for the same block on the SSD (as below), then your options are fairly limited.
The IO operation at logical block address 0x2878 for Disk 0
You could try a different backup application such as Macrium Reflect free and see if that also gives the same error?
If other applications show the same error, then replace the SSD with a new one.
Note: you may need to try doing a sector-by-sector mode disk backup with the option set to ignore errors to get a backup but this will be much larger than normal (up to the size of the SSD).

Hi,.....I have been utilizing the 2021 form 25.8.1_39216 of Acronis and it works immaculately. I have been going from 10-11 commonly without issues.
Reinforcement speeds rely upon many factors yet generally plate size and PC speed.
