My gripe with Acronis is that they have abandoned their loyal customers.  Like many commenting above, I bought every Acronis product from the beginning. But the new subscription pricing effectively more than doubles the cost (because I always bought at a sale price).  And for what?  Yes, removing tib.sys worked and keeps the software running on Windows 11.  However, eventually, I will be moving on to something less pricey.  It's not that I'm unwilling to pay for Acronis, I always did in the past, it's just that with severalYou can't seriously compare past sale prices with current prices that are not only not on sale but also in the midst of inflation computers in the house this is more than I am willing to pay.

I dont want to take the defense of Acronis, but you can't seriously compare past "sale prices" with current prices that are not only not "on sale" but also in the midst of mondial inflation.

We are using Acronis from 2006 to replace Symantec Ghost. This is what Acronis do best taking OS (C: drive)Image while computer can be used (Good for Servers OS) with full explorable image file.

Reading through the conversation started in Sep 2021. I could see only ONE work around, from Steve Smith all the rest is nothing but comments on Acronis Passive respond! Acronis, this is not good enough for such critical application.

ps: Steve suggestion worked for me on Lenovo T490 with W11 pro.

Whats the Problem?

Why can't we just have an instruction, how to uninstall tib.sys for those who want to activate MS Memory integrity in Windows 11?

The only drawback after this would be not to able to explore inside an image any more, or not?
----------------------------

1, Open task manager and disable across from startup apps.

2, Restart Windows.

3, Open the next holder.

     C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\

4, Then you can delete the following files.

     tib.sys

5. Open task manager and set it to start across.

6.  And turn Memory Integrity back to ON.

7.Restart your computer.

Hi Lose

In Windows 11, I got an Incompatible Driver (tib.sys) warning, so I deleted the driver. Many people have trouble with this driver. It's the only way to use older versions across.

Hello Jules.

Please check our page regarding the support for the ATI 2020: https://www.acronis.com/en-eu/support/lifecycle/consumer/ ( ended in 2021 ).

I've commented the issue with the team.

Thanks in advance!

My understanding is that as ATI 2021 and earlier are long out of support that Acronis will not be issuing an update to overcome this problem. I have made numerous representations to Acronis to no avail.

To summarise this topic:

Acronis Try & Decide kernel driver tib.sys is incompatible with Windows Core Isolation / Memory Integrity feature found in Windows 10 and 11.

With ACPHO, there is an option to perform a Custom Install and deselect Try & Decide.

With ATI 2015 - 2021, there is no such option, Try & Decide is installed by default, therefore the methods to remove this require either editing / changing the Windows Registry, or else renaming or deleting tib.sys.  Those actions essentially require booting Windows into Safe Mode to be performed manually.  It is possible to make these changes using PowerShell but a Windows restart is still needed to unload any active service after doing so.

That's totally correct. And thanks for summarizing.

My recollection is that Try & Decide was not included in ATI 2015 (it is not mentioned in the user guide). Probably because ATI 2015 uses a significantly different approach to ATI 2014. I believe it was reintroduced in ATI 2016.

I just started to have this same issue.  Win11, ATI21.  I renamed lib.sys and now my list of incompatible drivers is empty and memory integrity will still not turn on.  I see another member had the same issue but did not see a resolution.  Any ideas?  TIA

I fixed it with this method:

1) Run regedit and export [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\tib]

2) In regedit delete the folder tib

3) Reboot PC and enable Core Isolation - Memory Integrity.

4) Click the File you created in step 1 above to restore the registry entries. (May get an error but ignore)

5) Reboot PC and Core Isolation - Memory Integrity stays set and tib.sys is also enable and everything seems to work Ok.

Interesting that it's still not fixed even in the new product. I was just looking to either update Acronis from 2019 or find a new solution, new solution it is I guess.

Hello Mark.

The lifecyle of Acronis True Image 2019 is expired and any updates will be performed on that product: https://www.acronis.com/en-eu/support/lifecycle/consumer/#true-image

Regarding the Acronis True Image Home office it works following the instructions of this KB: https://kb.acronis.com/content/70782 ( disabling Try & Decide ).

Thanks in advance.

Acronis is using this driver conflict to eliminate all our paid licenses in an effort to sell us on buying a subscription service.

Since I paid for a "Perpetual License", this is their way to attempt to force me into re-purchasing.

Perpetual = forever. Obviously, they have placed profit over customer loyalty.

I will NOT be purchasing additional products from a company that treats me that way.

Unless, of course, they reconsider and fix this one driver causing the issues  "tib.sys" driver

Hello Lisa,

Thank you for your message. I have relayed it to our team.

I would like to inform you that Acronis True Image 2020 has reached its end of lifecycle since 2020. Therefore, any updates or support for this version have ceased several years ago.

I would also like to clarify that we are not attempting to sell you any product or impose anything on you. The memory integrity feature is not supported on outdated versions of our product.

To address your concern, I recommend referring to our knowledge base article at https://kb.acronis.com/content/70782 and following the suggestions provided there.

Thank you for understanding.

I just read through this entire thread. Jose, it appears that you didn't even bother doing that when you first responded on April 4th. This latest response to Lisa is complete garbage as well ... ATI 2020 did not reach it's end-of-lifecycle in 2020 (although it did in 2021 Acronis Support Lifecycle Policy for Consumer Products).

The fact that memory integrity is not supported in the 2020 version of ATI is part of the entire point of this thread, which you might have realized if you had bothered to even read. This thread was started in September of 2021 which means that technically support had ended the previous month, but issues with memory integrity go all the way back to the Windows 10 April 2018 Update when it was introduced ... and Acronis continued to release new versions of their product (including the 2020 version 16 months later) which did not address the issue, yet marketed them as being compatible with Windows.

It's total BS and reminds me of when Windows 10 was first released ... the version of ATI purchased the previous year was incompatible and the only options were to update to the new version (less than 12 months later) or stay on Windows 7). I was pissed about that, but it pales in comparison to this current insanity regarding compatibility with memory integrity. Acronis is going to bleed customers like crazy, and as soon as I have a minute to research alternatives that will include me (and the dozens of clients I support) whose systems I have been installing Acronis software on for over a decade.

What a joke ...

Upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 failed with BSOD (ATI 2021 installed and working so far).
Reason was tib.sys.
Next I renamed this file. Upgrade succeeded.

Now ATI 2021 still works. But mounting a .tibx image fails:

 - using a standard user account just nothing happens

 - using an administrator account after selecting the desired partition an error message appears stating that a drive letter could be assigned to a partition

How can I repair this error?

Andre, welcome to these public User Forums.

TIB.SYS is not used for Mounting, Validating or opening backup archive images in Explorer.

It is used only by the Try & Decide feature, so renaming that tib.sys file should not affect those functions.

I have ATI 2021 installed on my own Windows 11 system with Core Isolation enabled and with tib.sys renamed and the Windows shell integration to give Mount etc is working fine.

I would suggest that you do the following:

First, turn off Core Isolation and restart the computer.

Next, perform a Repair install of ATI 2021 to ensure that Acronis Windows shell integration is repaired.

Check that the Mount feature is working again.

Rename tib.sys to tib.~sys then restart the computer.

Re-enable Core Isolation.

I have a laptop where I had renamed the tib.sys file to bypass the Memory Integrity issue.  The fix worked flawlessly until upgrading the laptop to Windows 11 a few weeks ago.  Now memory integrity cannot be turned on, but it does not identify any offending drivers (a couple of others in this thread have had the same problem).  Does anyone have a suggestion of how to get this to work now? I tried the one suggestion noted in this thread but that did not work for me.

Hi Jose.  The only "solution" listed in your recommended KB is to disable memory integrity.  I don't want to do that.  I have a desktop running windows 11 where renaming the tib.sys driver to tib.~sys solves the problem.  Yet I also have a laptop running windows 11 where that fix does not work.  How can I get my laptop to work like my desktop?  I am running Acronis True Image 2018.  Does the renaming fix somehow no longer work?

Hello Paul. That's an expected behavior. Acronis True Image 2018 is a legacy version and has not been supported or updated since 2019: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/lifecycle/consumer/#true-image. Please also note that W11 is not supported for Acronis True Image 2018: https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2018/index.html#40808.html. Thanks in advance!

I'm following the workaround and agree that Acronis should have had a disable feature for try and decide none of us seem to be using anyway. You're the man Steve Smith!

I'm also disappointed there is no more supported perpetual option and only subscription. Subscriptions are too expensive over a 3 year in life in comparison.

What other products are you using in place of Acronis that are comparable for a similar price? I don't want cloud trickle sync backups. I only do local external drive backups with 256 encryption and take by backup drives offsite locked up.

Jeffrey, welcome to these public User Forums.

You can continue using your perpetual licensed version of Acronis True Image such as 2021 (or most recent earlier versions - 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020).  These may not be eligible for support from Acronis but they work just fine with both Windows 10 and 11.

In terms of other products, see forum topic: Reflecting on a Post-ATI World where there is lots of discussion on alternative products.  I also use Macrium Reflect 8 but they too have decided to go down the subscription route so I am just keeping my perpetual licenced products there too!

I performed the tib rename workaround here and that cleared Acronis from the incompatible list, but core isolation still wouldn’t turn on after reboot/service restart.

Big warning here, there are Microsoft forum posts with registry changes to Defender to fix it not turning on. That went horrible for me and it changed so many other registry settings it was more worth the time to rebuild. Backout of the dword changes and recovery points didnt resolve the issue. I had to format and reinstall. Issues seen were app windows opening but blank, high runtime on cpu, and cpu in red but below threshold in tash manager.

in reinstalled the last True Image 2021 build and core isolation is fine so far. Ill post if that changes

Tom, just to clarify two points here:

First, I have tested both ATI 2019, 2021 and ACPHO with Windows 11, plus also have ATI 2015 running fine on the same.

Second, this topic is really focussed on enabling Windows Core Isolation for which the Acronis Tib Manager (tib.sys) conflicts and prevents core isolation being enabled!  I have got core isolation working with ATI 2021 on my main laptop running Windows 10 as documented in my earlier post above on Sun, 03/27/2022 - 16:27 by renaming tib.sys to tib.~sys and rebooting.  The same approach should work with Windows 11 but I have not tried testing this yet.

Note: ATI 2021 on Windows 11 introduces problems with the Acronis Sync feature that don't happen with ACPHO...!

Hi all,

this is the first time for a post - until now I was a quite satisfied customer.

I find it very astonishing how some people in the world lash out against some Acronis employees ( I am not an Acronis employee and I was also not "asked" to write a "nice" review).

I was a test engineer for years at a very large banking institution and you can believe me, because I was the one to implement the new releases in TE1 and then in TE2 and after the PSO I've had to implement them into production - 98% of all changes went well. They were tested by the business, everything is fine.

But the other 2% were the crux: maybe the developer did not have the right to work with customer identifiable data. Yes, there are anonymized data sets, but when it comes into production there might be a complete other source for the CID. Or the planned server could not execute a failover because it was installed in the wrong zone.

Guys, I am using Acronis products since 2012. Satisfied until now.

But so what? I did what Acronis offers (I've tested it and it did not work to my amazement)- Life goes on.

There are so many things today that interact with so much more other things today that it's (maybe) not always possible to test every release in all it's variations. Because those tests would take years...

But since nearly all the big companies sell their products as "subscriptions" to "improve customer support and deliver an enlightened state of happiness) I am now only installing products I can buy. For a once-for-lifetime fee.

just my 2 cents...

I know this is an old thread but I've not been on here before.

I've used ATI since at least 2012, if not before that and currently I'm using 2019 for my Win 11 laptop and two Win 10 desktops to make beginning of the month full images for all three machines, preferring to do that as I like to keep it simple and have full control of making the images and I always validate them.

I don't use all the automated and extra stuff that's loaded with ATI and after making an image I always go into 'Services' (keep a shortcut on taskbar for it) and disable all the Acronis entries except Acronis Scheduler2 Service, which I stop and turn it to Manual. When I launch ATI it then automatically starts the service and I can configure and make backups as normally. I don't need or want anything else of ATI running on my PCs.

I've also had the Memory Integrity / tib.sys problem and renamed the file to tib.old to be able to turn on Memory Integrity in Core isolation so all the ticks are in Windows Security.

Now here's a strange one: I've been for weeks playing around and trying to get Memory Integrity ON and with tib.sys in the System32 Driver folder on my Win 11 Asus laptop and I was about to edit the registry to export, delete, restart and then import the tib entry back into the registry again to see if that would work.

Memory Integrity was ON as I'd previously renamed tib.sys to tib.old, so I renamed it back to tib.sys before going into the registry. I'd also gone into Task Manager - Startup and enabled "tib_mounter_monitor.exe" and disabled "TrueImageMonitor.exe" and restarted, with the intension of then running regedit and trying the registry trick. However, when my laptop had loaded Windows I noticed that the taskbar security icon was still ticked. I checked "Security at a glance" and all were ticked, so I went back into the System32 Driver folder to check that I had definitely renamed tib.sys correctly (which I had). I rebooted again and security was still ok, I launched ATI, closed it and this time shut down my laptop. I started it again and still all security was ok. I've restarted, shut down and started several time since and still Windows Security has all its ticks present and with tib.sys named correctly in the Driver folder.

So tib.sys was first incompatible with Windows 11 . . . but now it is???

Not that I need it because I've never needed or wanted to use Try and Decide. It was just that it niggled me that it wasn't right.

Well, I'll have to eat humble pie. I was amazed that by some fluke I may have overcome the Tib.sys / Memory Integrity problem. As mentioned in my earlier post it was all working perfect for a day and that was after numerous restarts and shut downs to test it - until the next morning when my laptop froze on the rotating boot circle. So it was back to restoring an earlier image. (I'll give Acronis that - having done probably hundreds of restores over the years I always have confidence that it'll get me out of the hole).

Anyway, so now I was back with 'Device Security' being OFF. I'd had enough of it so feeling a bit peeved I clicked the word 'Dismiss' underneath . . . and it immediately changed to having a tick!

I don't think for one minute it means it's ok, but at least it looks as if it is - and I'm not going to worry about it anymore.

*UPDATE*

Here are the confirmation steps and steps to fix it with the new upgrade:

Validation -

I followed above and was able to buy the perpetual new version

I confirmed I still had the Core Isolation disable/broken and it wouldn't turn on

Aconis True Image 2021 (ATI) was installed

I'm using Windows 11 build 22631.3447

Fix Steps -

Backed up config settings for ATI 2021

Uninstalled ATI 2021

Validated that the tib.sys file is no longer in */system32/drivers

Rebooted

Enabled Core Isolation in Windows 11 - Windows Security

Rebooted for settings to take effect per prompt message from Windows

Validated it enabled fine and all green checks showing

Installed Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office 2024 (ACPHO)

Rebooted the PC

Ran the application and validated the Windows Core Isloation is working

Thanks Acronis!!!!

PLEAS DO NOT ADVERTISECFOR ANY KUIND OF SUBSCRIPTION..

I WILL NEVER BE PAYING ACRONIS FOR A SLAVE SUBSCRIPTION..

WITHOUT THE OPTION TO PAYBFOR LIFETIME LICENSE- I will not be buying any more Acronis products.

NB I have over time paid some +50 Acronis lifetime product, with the move to try to extort money from Me I will find another Backup software when I can't  make any of My existing Acronis products work on Windows OS..

Same will be for Microsoft, should Microsoft decide to make tge Windows OS a subscription, I guess I will start to learnsome kind of Linux..

MICROSOFT already have tried to introduce subscription for Microsoft Office, so when My current Office 2021 no longer work I will go to  open Office..

NEVER EVER WILL I PAY A SUBSCRIPTION FIR ANY SOFTWARE..

Hello,

Currently, there is a promotion that allows you to upgrade to the newest version in perpetual mode (without subscription).

Best regards.

*UPDATE* Fix Steps -

Thank you for taking the trouble to report on your update Jeffery. That’s very interesting to note for future reference.

I’m still using v 2019 with a perpetual licence and 2019, at the moment, does everything I need it to do. I use it on a Windows 11 Asus Zenbook and 2 desktops both running Windows 10. I only get the tib.sys niggle on the Asus Zenbook, so memory integrity is off. I don’t have that problem on the 2 Win 10 desktops. I always make manual validated images of each of them at the beginning of each month on external drives and I always keep 6 months of images as belt and braces. I don’t use the cloud or anything else that’s tagged on to ATI so I’m reluctant to pay for an update just do exactly the same as I do now.

[Mark Roder].- I completely agree with you.

I purchased Acronis True Image to safeguard and manage backups.

Everything was going well, but they started persistently sending me notices that I needed to upgrade to broader software that included cybersecurity.

After more than a year of enduring messages on the screen up to three times per PC session, I asked Technical Service for help to deactivate them: I just wanted to ONLY want backup protection and management; NOTHING ELSE. The Technical Service told me that it could not be eliminated.

Then another day they installed cyber protection elements together  with necessary updates, which I never wanted. (I have my own cybersecurity systems). And now the acronis tib.sys driver is incompatible with the Windows 11 Memory Integrity System, which has the grace to remove itself. Gentlemen of Acronis, I only wanted what I initially bought and for which I paid a high price. NOTHING ELSE. I'm already fed up with their cyber protection and their inopportune SPAM messages. So Acronis, don't care if I never see you again!

Hello!

Please note that Acronis True Image is unsupported and outdated.

Currently we offer the Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office and you can just install the backup module.

For more details refer to https://care.acronis.com/s/article/69387-Acronis-Cyber-Protect-Home-Off…

Best regards.

Please note that Acronis True Image is unsupported and outdated.

Some of us do not need or require support from Acronis and are happy with what we paid for, if it does what we want.

In my case a manual image of a 45.5 GB operating system at the beginning of every month, which takes just 4 minutes, including validating, is more than adequate and my 2019 (perpetual) version is all I need. Simplicity is usually best.  I already pay for all the virus and security protection I need, so a subscription upgrade is useless to me. My personal work data is on a separate partition and I back that up regularly, when required, on another PC.

Thanks Roger B,

Exact. I only want to use Acronis True Image: It works very well. I don't need cyber protection or help from the technical team... bla..bla..bla...

I just want to know how I can leave Acronis True Image as it was when I originally purchased it. I would appreciate if anybody could help me remove the cyber protection layer and the tib.sys file. That would make me very happy.

They are trying to force us 'perpetual license' holder to go with their new subscription model,

I guess they have regrets over having sold a 'perpetual license' as perpetual means forever.

Hello,

That information is incorrect.

Currently, we have a promotion that allows all users with a legacy product to upgrade to Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office (Perpetual).

The current version of Acronis Cyber Protect Home Office allows clients to select just the backup module without any other features: https://care.acronis.com/s/article/69387-Acronis-Cyber-Protect-Home-Office-how-to-install?language=en_US.

Best regards.

They are hardly doing it willingly through... they not giving new customers the option to go subscription or perpetual.. they forcing new customers to go subscription.. and only offering perpetual upgrades to  customers who have refused to upgrade to subscription.
Its clearly not a "Customer service" consideration for them... or they would offer subscription and perpetual to all.
May be I am being slightly cynical (though I think not) in thinking they expect to make much more from subscription, so are trying to  minimise the perpetual as much as possible.

Hello Yoji,

The offer is temporary and available only to users with legacy perpetual versions purchased in the past.

As far as I know, there aren't any plans to extend this offer to everyone. It is specifically for users who purchased the product before, and it's exceptional as we have requested this many times to the team.

Best regards.
