Dave,

The first thing to do is to run a repair install of TI 2013, I think the virtual driver should be installed during th eprogram installation and just not activated until you request it via the enable option under the tools menu.

It still do not work even after a "repair install of True Image" in my case.
Is there any reasonable solution for this?

 Hello all,

Thank you for your reports.

Could you please clarify the operating systems you use?

The option Acronis Extended Capacity Disks should be available for Windows XP only. Actually, in operating systems released later than Windows XP this option should be disabled, you can convert the hard disk larger than 2TB to GPT to use the entire capacity. You can do it by means of built-in Disk management utility.

We will add the appropriate information to User Guide.

Thank you.

I got it. I use Windows 8.

However, I could not find the thing, "The option Acronis Extended Capacity Disks should be available for Windows XP only", from User Guide.
Because it looks run on Windows later than Windows XP according to the image on Japanese User Guide (page 220).

Hello Everyone,

We have released a Knowledge Base article that addressed this issue and provides a download link for the virtual disk drivers.

You can find it here:

 - True Image 2013 by Acronis Errors Out with "Please Install Virtual Disk Driver Manually"

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I am running Windows 8 and Acronis 2013 with the Plus Pack. I have followed the link above and installed the virtual disk driver manually and I am still getting the exact same error as the op (vdd not installed, install manually...).

Is there any other fix for this?

Hello Colin,

Thank you for posting and welcome to Acronis forum.

Please re-install the virtual disk driver one more time and restart True Image 2013 by Acronis.

I will follow-up with a private message with additional instructions for collecting driver logs should the issue persists.

If you need immediate assistance please collect this report and contact our Support team so that we can find out what causes it.

Let me know if you have additional questions please.

Thank you.

I'm getting an error with the Acronis Virtual Disk Bus, and everything I can find says to manually reinstall the virtual disk driver (I'm using True Image 2014 Family Pack). But every effort to locate the driver fails. One knowledge base article 38937, says get the driver 'here' and links me to a poorly formatted page and asks me to log on, so I do, and it fails by just presenting the same web page again. Below is the link which gets me to the dead-end:

https://kb.acronis.com/system/files/content/2013/01/38937/virtualdiskse…

How can I easily get the 2014 virtual disk driver (or 2013 if that is the latest driver) software to install on my system?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

Dan,

Has this suddenly happened, for example after an MS update or always since you installed it?

The first thing to try if you haven't already is to run a repair install of True Image, run the installer it will offer you a repair option. In case there is somehting on your system preventing the virtual disk being installed or run, i suggest temporarily disabling your firewall during the install and also start the install as Admin by right clicking on the installer name and selecting Run as... , even if you already have admin capabilities.

I am getting the same issue as Dan S. I get the link which requires the userID and password....after entering it several times it still fails to recognize the userID/password combo. Please post a valid link to get this driver since it is essential for proper set up of a 3TB drive. The current presentation and UI are very bizarre and un-friendly. This seems to be a common issue and needs to be remedied. Thanks

After a lengthy call with a very helpful support person, Atul, (I picked his brain on how to do several other things), I was instructed to do the following:
- I ran the repair program, with no change, so do the following:
- Uninstall the existing version of Acronis which was not working
- disable any running antivirus and firewall app temporarily (this was probably not the issue, but just in case...)
- Reinstall, but by starting the install by right clicking on the install file, selecting, 'run as administrator'
- follow install instructions (for me it went smoothly)
- restart antivirus/firewall
- I forget if a reboot was needed or not...

but this seemed to do the trick for me and Acronis works fine without any virtual disk driver problems...

hope this helps!
