A full backup of two partitions is taking 10-12 hours. Is this unusual?
I'm using a Gateway GM5478 with 2.4GHZ Quad Core processor, 1066 MHZ front side bus and shared 8MB L2 Cache.
When complete my backup file is 73,000,000,000 KB in size.
Oops. I got carried away. File size is 73,000,000 KB in size
Are you imaging to an internal drive or external USB/firewire/NAS?
If USB what version 2.0 or 3.0, and is this a front or rear port?
Is validation included in the task?
Is another process such as defragging in operation during the imaging at some stage?
Is the disk needing to be decompressed before an image can take place?
have you checked both your source and destination drives for errors by running chkdsk /r ? If the source drive alos contains the OS files, checkdisk will have to run when you reboot, a non OS disk will allow checkdisk to run from within Windows.

Why does version 13 take more than twice as long to back up the same disk as Home 10 and 11 took. I am beginning to wish i had not upgraded.
If you upgraded over the top of 2011 or uninstalled v11 to install 2013, some of the origianl components may not have uninstalled correctly. Try a repair install of 2013.
Using the trial version of True image 2014, I just did a disk backup og about 600 GB in under 3 hours to an external 3 TB Western Digital MyBook drive with a USB 3 interface.
However, when I tried to do a FILE backup of the same disk, the estimated time was displayed at 2 days, 14 hours and a few minutes. I waited to see if this time reduced significantly but it didn't so I have uninstalled the trial version as it is too slow for my needs.
As I understand it, unlike Norton Ghost 15, recovery of a single file cannot be done from an Acronis disk backup.
