I just bought Acronis True Image Home 2010 and am wondering to what degree it is compatible with Windows 7. After upgrading to Windows 7 from Windows Vista, I have not yet found a way to recover files backed up earlier using True Image Home 2009 under Windows Vista: Here are the reasons for my doubts:
With Windows 7 and True Image Home 2010, I have tried mounting an image of my Backup archive to copy my files back to my current hard drive but it does not work. The Mount Backup window that opens when I click on Mount Image does not list any archives so I browse for it and find it (G:\Mybackup(1).tib) where it should be. But when I try to open it by clicking O.K., I receive the message " Unsupported file. Error while opening the archive file. The archive format is not supported by this operation "
Also, the use of Windows Search 4.0 to manage backup files (including moving and copying) as described in the True Image Home 2010 User’s Guide does not work for Windows 7. When I try to install Windows Search 4.0, I get a message saying that it is not compatible with Windows 7.
Here are my questions:
1- Can files backed up with Acronis True Image Home 2009 and Windows Vista be recovered and managed with Acronis True Image Home 2010 under Windows 7
2- Is there a version of Windows Search compatible with Windows 7
