Image HPE DL360 Gen9 to Gen10 - Missing Drivers and Inaccessible boot device

Thread needs solution

Hoping someone can identify something I am missing. I am trying to take a Windows Server 2012 R2 Acronis Image of an existing Gen9 server and apply it to a Gen10. Using Acronis universal restore I try to apply missing drivers but there are three I can not seem to get to take and I know I have them included.

  1. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A1AF&SUBSYS_00EB1590&REV_09 | C620 Series Chipset Family USB 3.0 xHCI Controller
  2. PCI\VEN_103C&DEV_22F6&SUBSYS_00E41590&REV_09 | Hewlett Packard Enterprise iLO5 Virtual USB Controller
  3. PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_A1D2&SUBSYS_00EB1590&REV_09 | C620 Series Chipset Family SSATA Controller [AHCI mode]

I installed a fresh copy of Server 2012 R2 and updated all the drivers using HPE SPP to verify the hardware was working correctly. I used this image to export all the drivers by copying the C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository directory. I used this directory as the driver path for Universal Restore. I also had universal restore inject the HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen 10 driver.

I am not sure if its related to the drivers or a system configuration difference but I can not get Windows to boot. I get a BSOD with inaccessible boot device. Both systems are configure for UEFI.

Any ideas for troubleshooting or possible solutions?

If the computer boots (and even if you still have some missing drivers marked with ? in device manager) download the chipset driver and the disks drivers (normally named IRS..) and install them manually on the GEN10.

This will solve the problem.
