Hello,

I am getting a new drive and it will be my first SSD.

I wish to backup my 1TB SATA HDD (Windows 7 Pro 64bit) with Acronis Backup 11.7 Standard,

and then Restore the disk image to the New 1 TB SSD.

Can someone please provide a link to a tutorial or provide me with some directions.

I have not used Universal Restore before.

Thanks for any help.

Hello PutItInReverse,

thank you for posting on Acronis forums!

Sorry for the delayed response. We recommend that you follow this step-by-step guide from drivers preparation to booting the target SSD drive:

Dear Maria,

Thank you for the reply.

Two questions:

1. If you are using the Linux based recovery disc, but are restoring a Windows 7 backup to the new SSD, can you still use Windows 7 drivers for the new SSD during Universal Restore, or do you need Linux drivers since you are using a Linux based recovery disc? It is a little unclear.

2. The section that says "If you have Acronis Backup 12: perform the recovery first, then boot the machine once again with Acronis bootable media, select Acronis Universal Restore and apply it as described below." is this required for Acronis Backup 12.5 also?

Thank you for your help.

Hi PutItInReverse,

1. Yes, you find the drivers for the target system, the distributive used as a base for a bootable media doesn't matter here
2. You are right, the warning only applies to the version 12 specifically
