Dear ladies & gentlemen,
I am trying to make single synchronisation from a workstation to NAS. This should be done in a way so that I can access all files on the NAS in original Format once they are copied. Basically a scheduled 1:1 copy that is then modified on the NAS once there are changes on the workstation(s).
At the moment I have only been able to start a backup that is then updated by incremental changes. However, almost all files are saved as "Acronis Backup files format".
How to set up my desired task? Or do I Need a different software package?
Acronis Backup is mostly a backup tool rather than file sync solution - in comparison with simple file syncs the backups are portable, compressed, may contain multiple versions, can be used on bare metal and are optimized for retention. The closest analogue to what you are looking for is present in Acronis True Image Home 2017 in Sync feature (described here): it allows uploading the data to Acronis Cloud storage, keep multiple versions of the files, get these files in native format via web portal (so you can get your files from any place which has Internet) and also sync it back with your other computers which have Acronis True Image installed and connected to the same cloud account.
Hope this helps.
thanks for your clarification. Unfortunately, I will have to decide:
1. Acronis Backup 12: Has the management server function (which I need), but barely sync capablities. OR
2. Acronis True Image: Sync (as you described) but no server and network management function.
I will manage one way or the other. Unless you have any different helful advice for me, feel free to close this thread.
