Exlude entire drive from backup

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have one machine to be backed up excluding some entire drives. Backup is defined as "Entire Machine", exclusions are listed in file filter section as D:\, E:\ etc.
That worked before upgrade to 12.5.

After upgrade Acronis ignores these filters and makes backup of entire machine. Machine is Windows Server 2012R2, it is also Acronis Management Server.

Any suggestions are welcomed.

Thank you in advance,
Leonid.

Hi Leonid,

The file filters settings must have the correct syntax specified, for example if you want to exclude all files from D: drive then it should be not "D:\", but "D:\*" in the settings. If it still doesn't work then the log file should show where the problem could be.

There is actually a better approach to the scenario: instead of backing up "Entire machine" you can select to backup specific disks/volumes, e.g. use inclusion rules rather than File Filters ones.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for reply, your suggestion regarding the syntax is correct!

I don't want file-level backup, I want to backup the machine in form, permitting restoration to VM or bare-metal, so exclusion is what I need. Although, the syntax is not mentioned in user manual and, again, it worked in ver.12.

Thanks again.

Regards,
Leonid.
