Hi,

I'm trying to deploy an appliance to a VMware v5.1 host from my v12.5 web console (installed on a Windows 10 machine) but I'm running into the same problem every time I try - at 80% completion. It starts to create the appliance and it appears on vSphere - but then fails and is removed again with the following massive list of errors:

Thanks in advance for any help anybody can provide! :-)

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul,

The problem is that appliance is unable to reach the provided address of the ESXi host/vCenter (10.0.30.3 from the error) from the network it is connected to. Note the bottom of the error:

------------------------
Error code: 1
Module: 83
LineInfo: 0xC7610E0A857BEE64
Fields: {"$module":"esx_srv_glxa64_7970","host":"10.0.30.3"}
Message: Failed to connect to ESX(i) server '10.0.30.3'.
------------------------
Error code: 296
Module: 83
LineInfo: 0xC7610E0A857BEE64
Fields: {"$module":"esx_srv_glxa64_7970","faultTypeId":"0"}
Message: SOAP 1.1 fault: SOAP-ENV:Client[no subcode] "" Detail: connect failed in tcp_connect()

What happens is the following:

1) You configure appliance deployment via Acronis Backup web console to connect it to 10.0.30.3 ESXi host/vCenter address

2) In the settings for appliance you set some virtual network ("VM network" for example) where the appliance will be connected to

3) Appliance gets deployed from .ovf to the ESXi host and gets connected to that network

4) Appliance is powered on and guest OS starts up and initializes network

5) Appliance tries to reach 10.0.30.3 IP and fails since from the virtual network it is connected to there is no connectivity (standard "connect failed in tcp_connect()" error).

6) The appliance gets automatically removed from ESXi host since the deployment is considered as failed one.

In other words you need to check the settings which you provide during appliance deployment to make sure it is connected to proper network.

An alternative solution (to troubleshoot) would be to deploy the appliance manually from .ovf template (located in \Program Files\Acronis\ESXAppliance\).

Thank you.

Thanks for getting back to me Vasily, I really appreciate it. I will give that a try on Monday. Thanks again. Paul D.

Hi,

I got a little further before I hit a new problem! :-)

I installed the appliance via the OVF file - gave it a manually assigned IP and then gave it the details of the ESXi host.

On the web management page, I opted to register an already configured agent.

I gave it the details of the new agent and it connected fine.

I gave it the details of the vCentre server appliance and that connected fine.

When I click the final part of the procedure - to register the agent... I get this:

The web management machine, ESXi host, vCenter appliance, New Acronis appliance are all on the same IP subnet.

I just don't understand what could be the problem.

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

First of all apologies for the late reply. The last error indicates problems on  Acronis Management Server side where local interaction between its internal components failed. Such issues should be investigated with help from our support team - this may also be the root cause why original deployment of appliance was failing. It's hard to advise further here on forum without checking the actual environment to troubleshoot the issue.

As a workaround you can try the method to register appliance right from its GUI. The appliance should then appear in web console interface under Settings->Agents as well:

register from appliance.PNG

Thank you.
