I have a GFS backup plan that has been running successfully for some time, backing up to a USB hard drive.

Today the backup failed with the following error messages:

ProtectCommand: Failed to execute the command.
Additional info:
--------------------
Error code: 41
Module: 307
LineInfo: e6792a5ee190dd9e
Fields: $module : agent_protection_addon_vs
Message: ProtectCommand: Failed to execute the command.

Message: EnsureBackupInvariantsCommand: Failed to prepare the location for the backup archive.
--------------------
Error code: 2

Error code: 2

For the backup plan, when I select the backup plan and "Where to back up" tab the location reads: "The vault you have selected is unavailable at the moment. If it is inaccessible when the task starts, the task will fail.

However the USB drive is attached and shows up with the correct path.

I am able to manually validate the vault3as well.

Any idea how to remedy the situation?

Hi,

got the same error messages in Ver: 11.0.17438 with a network share added as unmanaged Vault.

Funny is that some machines on that Backup plan works perfect and some does not.

They are all in the same LAN as the target storage is also.

Cheers

Hello David,

Thank you for using Acronis Software.

While using a changeable HDD as target for your backups, you should not use GFS schema. Instead I suggest to use simplified naming of backups. Find more information about in our Knowledge Base article.

The cause of this issue is, that Acronis Backup & Recovery 11 is using meta data along with the backups. When changing the target on the new plugged in HDD, these meta data are not longer found, that results in this error message.

If you need additional assistance, feel free to contact Acronis Support. Find more information here. Please ensure, to provide every time the Smart Error (SER), find more information here about.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank you.
