Error code: 20 Access to the file is denied

We have recently purchased Acronis enterprise workstation and tried with one of the users laptop for backing up their folders. We have mapped two folders for the user
1. c:\users\ranandan\my documents\Projects
2. d:\mail

During the backup the 2nd folder got backed up and the 1st repeatedly failing with the Error code:20. Domain administrator has full permission on the c:\.

c:\users\ranandan\my documents is a junction. Try c:\users\ranandan\documents\project instead.

I suggest it's ABR11. What is the destination for the backup?

It's going to my qnaqs server. I think I may have figured it out. I saw for the incremental backup, I had the regular admin account for that backup, not sure why that would interfere, but I changed it to my domain account name, will see later if that works. I'll update later. Thanks for getting back to me.

It failed again. I have a Windows 7 machine. Do you think I should try selecting the run as administrator option on it?

What you could try doing is editing the “Acronis Agent User” user account (This is genrally the account that runs the “Acronis Managed Machine Service” which runs the backups.

Make this user a member of the “Administrators” roll/group if not already assigned. That should hopefully fix the access denied errors.

Hello Supporters,

i have a quite similar Problem:

We have 30 Laptops that have to get saved with Acronis Backup & Recover 11 Advanced Workstation.
As storage we use a Seagate Black Amor 440 NAS

The folder on NAS is "Acronis" and the access (in the settings from the NAS) goes to Administrator and admin.

At the Backup-settings of Acronis, i use the Domain Admin Account for all Backups. (Domain\Administrator + password)
And at the setting for the backup-storage i use the Administrator account from the NAS. (Administrator + password)

Actually there are 9 schedules and 3 of them wont work and prompting the error:

I use the same accounts and passwords for all backup-plans but just these three laptops have this error

Where could be the problem in this case?

Hi Bernd

Unfortunately I can't read or understand the errors above but one thing I can suggest is for you to try changing the way you login to your NAS storage instead of using the following:
"And at the setting for the backup-storage i use the Administrator account from the NAS. (Administrator + password)"

Try using the following process instead:

NASNAME\Administrator + password
NAS_IP_ADDRESS\Administrator + password

This method will ensure it will not try and authenticate via the domain and if the workstation is connect to a Domain Windows will generally always try and first authenticate through the domain server first which could be causing issues with some Linux based NAS units.

Hope it helps and that my response relates to the errors you have above (Sorry once again for not being able to understand 100%)..

Hi Datastor,

thanks for your fast anwser.
Today i tried it a last time and it worked out.
I dont know how it can be possibile but the failure was the domain.
At first i used Domain\Administrator and it worked for 6 of 9 BackupTasks.
The other 3 stopped with the error above.

Then i changed it to Domain.de\Administrator and it worked for the others too.
For now.
I hope it will run for the next days without errors.

Thanks for your help - you gave me the hint to focus on the nas.
I thought it would be a problem of the access rights of the domain users. But it was just the .de at the Domain.
