Problems with HP Proliant DL360 Gen9

Thread needs solution

Dear all,

We have some HP Proliant DL360 Gen9 servers and we need to clone their hard disks. Currently, we save these clones in an external hard disk.

We have been doing this task previously for a long time using Acronis Backup and Recovery 10, but now it fails. It is worth noting that the servers where it worked were older HP servers (that is, it fails only in the newest servers, which happen to be these HP Proliant DL360 Gen9).

What can we do to solve this problem? Are these servers completely unsupported by this Acronis version (Acronis Backup and Recovery 10)?

In any case, we need a solution which enables us to perform a universal restore in order to be able to use the same clone in different servers.

We can't provide error messages as the error is Acronis not even detecting the disks installed in our HP Proliant DL360 Gen 9.

Thank you in advance

Hello Joguar,

Thank you for your posting! The only limitation would be that Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 can back up and recover only operating systems installed in BIOS/MBR mode, UEFI is not supported in this edition. Have you tried using Acronis Bootable media or WinPE-based media

Thank you,

Thanks for your help,

The problem here is that Acronis 10 does not detect the drives. Our HP DL360 G9 servers allow booting through UEFI or BIOS. We have selected BIOS. We tried to make a WinPE and it still does not detect the drives. They work with the Acronis Bootable media we downoladed from http://www.acronis.com/es-es/enterprise/download/acronis-backup-12/?utm_source=WebConsole though it only allows the recovery option, as it is a free version. Any suggestions?

Have you downloaded the latest update 13762 available for your product? If the issue persists on the latest build, we could only suggest upgrading to Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7.

Thank you again. One last question. Why would we need Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 instead of Acronis Backup 12? Is there any reason for using this specific version?

The only reason is that Acronis Backup 12 Advanced hasn't been released yet (BTW Beta campaign is currently in progress You are welcome to join!). Release is planned for Q2 2017, so very soon. In the meanwhile you сould upgrade to Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7. All users of Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 with valid maintenance contract will get version 12 for free once it's released.

Applied UR also but still its giving issue not booting up

Tried with both winpe as well as the linux bootable media.

still we have the same issue.

tried both D to D as well as the Volume recovery same issue.

Hello Sineesh.

Since you have not shared with us the error code you receive on BSoD, I recommend that you follow the solution from this KB article if this is the "Stop 0x0000007B" error. Otherwise, please follow instructions from another KB article with common troubleshooting bootability issues steps.

It is possible that Acronis Backup Advanced 11.7 may be preferred over Acronis Backup 12 for a number of reasons, including compatibility with certain systems or specific features that are not included in the newer version. It's also possible that the organization may have already invested in licenses or resources for version 11.7 and it may not make financial sense to upgrade to the latest version. It is best to consult with Acronis support or the organization's IT department to determine the best solution for the organization's specific needs and requirements.
