Question about ftp server

Thread needs solution

I am trying to figure out why Acronis is not connecting to my FTP server. I can open a command prompt and do a command-line ftp just fine, but when I try to create an archive on the ftp site, it hangs on the "Looking" phase.

I've tried retyping my credentials, cutting\pasting them, even changing them, with no effect.

Thanks for your help!

Hello Joseph,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

There can be several reasons of the encountered issue:

Options for the Windows Firewall, included in Windows XP SP2, SP3, Windows 2003 Server, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 are set automatically during installation of Acronis components. However, make sure that the option File and Printer Sharing in Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Exceptions is enabled on the remote computer, before the remote installation starts. This option is only necessary for remote installation via Acronis Management Console. See also Acronis Agent Remote Installation Algorithm.

FTP-server must allow passive mode for file transfers. It is recommended that you change the source computer Firewall settings to open ports 20 and 21 for both TCP and UDP protocols and disable the Routing and Remote Access Windows service.

Components of Acronis True Image 9.1/Echo use the following ports for remote operation:

- UDP port: 9876

- TCP port: 9876, if busy, choose at random

- Acronis Management Console UDP port: 9877, if busy, choose at random

Acronis True Image cannot access FTP servers that do not confirm transfer completion after the LIST command or do not support MLST and MLSD commands. An example of such FTP servers is ProFTPD.

At the moment, there is no solution.

Acronis True Image does not support SFTP (Secure FTP) as a storage option.

Thank you.

Thank you.

I don't know which version of Acronis True Image this post applies to but, is it still the case that the most recent 2010 version still does not support backing up to a SFTP (SSH) location?

Also, is it possible to backup the contents (including subfolders) of networked folders?

The answers to these questions will help me decide whether to upgrade to the 2010 version of True Image.

Thank you very kindly in advance,

DK

Hello D.K.!

Welcome to Acronis Forum, we're glad to greet you here!

I regret to inform you that all Acronis True Image version software doesn't support SFTP, but this feature was released in Acronis Backup and Recovery versions.

So you may want to take a look at the Acronis Backup and Recovery Standalone Workstation. It has different GUI layout and more features for backup and recovery. You can find all the details about its functionality in the User's and Quick Start Guides as well as test the solution before making a decision. The trial version is full functional and doesn't have any limitations except:

  1. 15 days of work
  2. Trial Bootable Media can restore only

You can backup the data located in network folders in Files and Folder mode.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.

Hi,

I would like to expose a problem I have with DNA Master: it doesn't update after installation and I got an "FTP failure" message (even when I shut down the software).

I already successfully install (and use) DNA Master on my home computer (Windows 10 home) but it doesn't work on my professional computer (Windows 10 pro). Initially,  I believed that the internet connection from my lab was the problem (institutional firewall or this kind of stuff) and I tried to install DNA Master connecting my pro computer to my home network… nothing good happened.

I asked a colleague to install DNA Master but he wasn't able to succeed. Even if I tell him to install and run the software in administrator mode. He tried to run the software on a Windows 10 pro configuration. I think there is a specific setting I need to modify on Windows 10 pro but I don't know where…

Did it happen to somebody here? Do you have a clue which could resolve my problem?
