Is there a fast way to search through the archives? Giving that incremental archives don't have all data and users sometimes require to restore files that and most of time don't remember when they did last work on it (or even don't know that) looking through all archives takes a very long time (expanding one level of archived data takes up to 20 seconds - if I have to search a folder 5 in depth on 10 (or more) archives ).

Is there a way to search through the archives for a specific file?

Hello Marcin,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/ | Acronis Corporate Products]]

Acronis Backup&Recovery doesn't provide a search facility for files in .tib archives (Acronis True Image Home 2010 has this option). I will create a request to the appropriate department, maybe, this option will be implemented for the future releases.

Thank you.

That would be a nice feature, especially if it is provided in Home version of your software.

I was really disappointed that there is no way to search tib content. Then I was really annoyed that I can't mount archives that are located on storage nodes so I can search them via Windows explorer or other file utils. IMO Acronis 10 B&R is just a DR tool (albeit a good one) with out search capabilities.

I have been trying to search my archives for a particular file name within an archive in the ATIH 2010 recovery Data Recovery and Backup Management window. I can search the archive names very well but not file names within the archives.

How do i search for a particular file with each archive. I have 10 differential archives some files i change daily therefore should have 10 versions available.

Hello Michael Collins,

Thank you for posting and I will certainly assist you with this question.

To search for specific files inside your backup files, please do the following.

1. Start the Acronis True Image 2010 Home and click on the recovery tab.

2. On the top right corner enter the search parameter and press enter.

After a few moments our program should detect the specific file. I have also attached a screenshot to my post that shows the options that I mention in my post. Please check the User Guide on page 143 for additional information.

If the search is not working for you for some reason, please let me know the following.

1. Build number of your software and your Operating System.

2. Any errors or anything else that appears that could be useful for investigation.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
