I have 1 backup that's constantly failing where as all my others are working fine. I've tried to delete the Task and recreate it but had no luck.

I'm running Acronis Backup for VMware 9.2.10535 on vCenter 5.5

The log is showing the following;

Task 'NEW_Core_Backup' failed: 'Failed to create a backup.

Any ideas what I can try? I've tried to update VMware tools also.

Hi James,

The problem is that VMware is unable to take quiesced snapshot of the [VMFSDatastore4] STL-SP-VM/STL-SP-VM.vmx machine. You can check it right from vSphere client: right-click on machine->Guest->Take Snapshot->check the "quiesce" option, uncheck the "memory" option and create the snapshot. It will fail from vSphere in exactly the same way as you see it while running backup. To troubleshoot the error you can follow the instructions from http://kb.acronis.com/content/4559 article or workaround it by disabling quiescing of the VM as described in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1031298 (in this case the snapshot will be taken in crash-consistent state without using VSS).

Thank you.
