no notification by mail for job backup replication

Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 on ubuntu 20.04

I receive mail notification for my backup jobs, but not for the backup replication job. Within both jobs (or better plans) no mail notification needs to be setup. In the system settings there is no distinction between backup plan and replication plan.

Does anybody know what to do?

To become clearer about it. In Acronis' system settings you have to configure the mail server and the recipient's email address. This is used when a backup job is finished (or failed) and up to now the notifications are sent successfully. I have also created a replication job, but for this no notification is sent by mail when it's finished.

Hello Peter!

It's not clear if you set the replication as part of the backup plan, or as a separate replication plan. In either case I don't think you can set an email in case of OK execution, only an alert for "Activity failed".

What is your workflow that you are interested in OK behavior?

I didn't setup the replication as part of the backup job. That means I didn't configure an additional location in the backup plan. Advantage of this option is that the replication is done simultaneous with the backup job.

But I have choosen the section 'replication plan'. The replication jobs copies the backup files from the backup location. Disadvantage of this option is that the replication can be done first when the backup job finished.

Nevertheless the replication plan doesn't send a notification mail neither for success nor for failure.

Advantage of this option is that the replication is done simultaneous with the backup job.

That's not how it works. If replication is part of the backup, replication will be started right after the backup is created. (User Guide: 5.9 Replication).

Replication isn't like a simultaneus backup, it's more like backing up a backup.

But I have choosen the section 'replication plan'. The replication jobs copies the backup files from the backup location. Disadvantage of this option is that the replication can be done first when the backup job finished.

If set as a separate plan you do have to consider how the schedules interact with each other, if you want replication to always run after a backup.

Nevertheless the replication plan doesn't send a notification mail neither for success nor for failure.

If it's part of a backup plan, I'd expect a failed replication(with successful backup) to be presented as backup "succeeded with warnings" (There is such a category of alerts you can have email notification for).
If it has its own plan then I'd expect "Activity failed", which also has a corresponding category of notification.

If you have these enabled, but still not reciving emails about these particular errors I'd contact support.

I guess it could be more straightforward, as well as allow successful activites to be sent as notification. You could post this to the wishlist, and hope it gets implemented sometime.

Thank you for your detailed answer and clarification how replication works in Acronis.

I think I misunderstood the system settings > Email notifications

I have checked each four notifications. But the fourth is named as 'Successful backups' only. This seems not to include replications. I expected notifications for successful replications.

Hello Peter,

thank you for posting this thread on Acronis forums!

There are no email notification settings for successful replication.

However, I added a vote to an existing feature request (RM-2495) Send notifications for mini-plans (replication, validation, VM convertion etc.).
