Trying to restore from TIBX file. "No Backups"

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to restore files for my client after replacing a failed disk on her PC.

She had a previous version of Acronis Backup installed on the failed disk.

The license she purchased around 2018 shows: "Acronis Backup 12.5 Standard Workstation license"

I installed Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5.16428. I applied the license code which works.

It shows that it's a "Perpetual License" and "Maintenance expired."

So then I looked for the backup files. On her backup drive I found 2 TIBX files. 177GB and 148GB.

I added the backup location into Acronis.

Then I clicked "Show Backups" but on both backups it says "No Backups."

So what does this mean? Is it a compatibility issue or are the backup files corrupted?

What do I do?

I did not set up the original backup.

Hello Ji Luo!

Is it still showing "no Backups" after refreshing (icon in top right corner) recovery points in the archive?

Also try directly opening the tibx archive. You can simply open it with windows file explorer on a machine where you have an agent. If there are no problems and can see the contents, it's probably OK.

You can create a validation plan in the management console and run it against the backups you have to make sure they are OK.

Hi. Thanks for the info.

Refreshing doesn't work. File explorer shows "This folder is empty"

I may need more detailed instructions regarding Validation.

The only Validation function I found was to create a new backup job, point the target to these files and then there's an "Validate backup after it is created" function.

Hello Ji Luo!

This looks to me as some sort of incomplete backup.

In the plans menu where you can create backup plans, there should be a validation plan visible. This is part of an advanced (not standard) licence so it's possible that you don't have this option visible if you have none added to the management server.

I have the same problem. My client has an older version of Acronis Backup installed "Acronis Backup 12.5 Standard Workstation licence," according to the licence he acquired in 2018. I am attempting to restore files for the client's project. After replacing a failing disc on my client's computer. Then I clicked "Show Backups" but it said "No Backups" on both backups.

Hello Ji Luo,

Welcome to Acronis forums!

So then I looked for the backup files. On her backup drive I found 2 TIBX files. 177GB and 148GB.

I added the backup location into Acronis.

As I understood, you created this backup location before recovery but existing backups have not been added there.

For recovering recover files/folders backup, please use the following methods that do not require using backup locations:

Extracting files from local backups

Recovery files using bootable media
