Hi, Are there some tricks on how to clean up storage space with the cleanup plan? I make a cleanup plan with retention rule to keep for example 10 backups. But, from AMS perspective it was cleaned, in AMS I see 10 backups but from storage view, I see a huge amount of files and my storage space is not clean up!!!

Hello mmilis,

thank you for your posting!

- Is this managed or unmanaged location?
- Have you checked the storage outside Acronis, were the old backups actually deleted?
- Is it possible to delete backups manually as described in https://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/AcronisBackup_12.5/index.html#41231.html ?
- Could you please collect system information from the respective agent after running a cleanup operation and send us?

I don't understand this, managed or not managed? Storage is SMB share on some QNAP storage! It is not a storage node if your question was pointing on that.

- As I was saying in the first post, the problem is that I see on SMB share too many files, nothing are deleted.
- Yes from AMS, but don't know if it actually deletes some file on SMB share. And I wrote in a post, I was running cleanup plan and AMS shows that was deleted/cleans.

- Oh, this is really boring, sorry I must say that. Every time I start talking to Acronis support there is collecting sys info. It is a time-consuming process. Don't like to put it on the public forum, of course.

Best,
mmilis

Hello Milos.

Could you please share here screenshots showing backup files on storage in AMS and outside of Acronis Cyber Backup 12.5 User Interface?

Yes, I can. What you can see is that in AMS we have 10 backups and if count all of them it will be approx 70GB but in storage you see 640GB!!! In SMB view you see 85 files.

I believe that this is more than enough descriptive. This is just one example, there is more machine with the same problem.

Hello Milos.

Unfortunately, there is not a full list of your backup files on the second screenshot. I do not see if there is the first full backup RSSI01MS0023-BE284F11-3A68-4028-95FA-206E2C9C4F9c-4144CF30-FE76-474D-B6AC-8F2D304102E6A.tibx .

The cleanup job could fail if the first full backup is lost/deleted. Then please create an empty file with the name above and run a cleanup task again.

If it fails again, then please collect Acronis System Information from the respective agent after running a cleanup operation along with the full content of the backup archive directory and upload it onto an FTP link that I've sent you in a Private Message.

Hi Maria,

Finally something simple and working from Acronis! Thank you so much.

Is it wrong or can be some problem in future if I make an empty file for all backup archive where I don't have the first file in a row?

I already did for this storage and almost all archive. I see that some archives have the first file in a row with the size of 12KB but it looks like this empty file working.

Hello Milos.

No, this empty file should not cause any issues.

Moreover, the issue with deleting the first full backup is fixed in the latest builds (this file has been mistakenly deleted during cleanup operation by one of the previous builds). Thus, it will not reoccur again.

Hello Maria,

Thank you so much for help and explanation.

Too many bugs from my point of view with this app.
