Monitor Backups w/o API

Im curious how everyone is monitoring their cyber protect Backups.

We are awaiting the release of the Public API for over a year now with the hope we will be finally able to monitor the backups from our customers. Since we have a lot of machines in cyber protect cloud, one co-worker currently spends a lot of time reviewing all acronis tenants checking each backups.

Since we have a lot of tenants aswell with different e-mail adresses its not "easy" to filter mailboxes by events, also since we dont get rid of the fact what happens when an email is not sent for a specific tenant by another reason.

So we thought with API there would be a solution but it gets delayed and delayed over time.

Is there any other solution? I didnt find a single event like "backup successfull" on a target machine. Otherwise i would monitor eventviewer or a specific acronos log file on the machines to track the backup success state.

We really need a proper way to monitor the backup states correctly, since in current state when i try to do it via API with the given methods, all i get are really really big outputs with nested json results where i cannot properly monitor all machines backup state.

Regards,

Michael

The current ETA for these APIs is the 21.02-21.03 release.

Your task can be done with Alerts, Activities, and Tasks APIs opened a pretty long time ago. Yes, the responses are long-read JSON, and you can use filters by type of policy, as you need backups (policyType=backup), state, as you need completed activities (state=completed), dates, as you normally need all the task after a specific datetime (completedAt=ge(2021-01-21T00:00:00Z)). Then the only thing you need to use is a JSON transformation: from each array element, you need /resource/name, /resource/type, policy/name, and result/code, as well. If you need, you can add tenant/name and tenant/id. As a result, you will have a pretty simple JSON that can be simply imported to Excel or use as is.

The transformation can be done manually using any suitable program or scripting language, or you can use any of the huge lists of available toolings https://stackoverflow.com/questions/1618038/xslt-equivalent-for-json
