Hey there,

I did the update to the most recent build of Cyper Backup Advanced V15 from V12.5.

As I did a clean reinstall I have to recreate the plans (that was my intention).

I am wondering

- why can´t I define a backup format (neither in the system preferences nor in the options of the plan) ?

- although I set the Splitting option to "automatic", in a new plan this option is then set to the other option and I have to set it back to automatic ahgain

- why is the scheduling options - where I can configure whether the start should be exactly as scheduled or within a time window - only available in the plan options but not in the system preferences ?

- is it correct that in the protection plan section I cannot select to show columns for Schedule and Target anymore ?

Why the h... is this happening ?
Each main release drops features and information that are helpful for the administration....

Additionally the next issue:

I configured the "subject" in the mail notifications to be [Acronis Backup] [Plan] [Device] [Alert].

All Mails from plans have the correct subject.

Well the daily recap......misses it.

12.5 recap mails hat the subject

[Acronis Backup] ALERT RECAP ON 02/12/22 09:00:04 (Critical: 0, Error: 0, Warning: 0)

V15 subject:

ALERT RECAP ON 02/13/22 08:00:53 (Critical: 0, Error: 0, Warning: 0)

Really ?!?!?
Again Acronis changed the behaviour.....

Really annoying as I use the subject to filter the mails.....

Hello Sven!

- why can´t I define a backup format (neither in the system preferences nor in the options of the plan) ?

I can only answer the first as I remember looking it up earlier. This seems to be a push towards v12 backup format. It can still do v11, but only if it's a legacy backup plan (created on 12.5 then upgraded)

Hey Peter,

It can still do v11, but only if it's a legacy backup plan (created on 12.5 then upgraded)

If this is right, why is there no information in the documentation.
There is still the option descibed to select the version.

Or did I miss anything ?

It is in the docs at "7.12.5 Backup format".

Could be clearer, but if you can only see the backup format option if the plan is already with 11 (or a deduplicated location) the plans could only come from earlier versions. This coupled with v11 being "A legacy format preserved for backward compatibility", v12 being the default and changing to v12 is permanent change suggests support has been dropped to the bare neccessity level (being able to restore from them).

Hey Peter,
in fact yes you are right.

Here is the text:

7.12.5 Backup format
This option defines the format of the backups created by the protection plan. It is only available for
protection plans that use the legacy backup format version 11. In this case, you can change it to the
new format version 12. After this change, the option becomes inaccessible.

But honestly:
Are the guys who write the manual crypto experts and act in the way "how to hide important information in the best way" ?!?!?

Why is there not the simple hint:
New plans use format version 12 and the version cannot be changed!

And more important:
V15 cannot import V12.5 plans....so how can I append backups to a format 11 backup chain if I create a new plan ?

The backward compatibility of Acronis becomes worse and worse and the new fancy bling bling features reprss more and more features that are useful for administration.

Bit sad
