Hello Alikhan,

thank you for your question.

Please create an installation log so that we can see why the installation was interrupted.  I would also recommend restarting machine before next installation start.

Thank you.

Same thing is happening to me when attempting to install Disk Director 12 in Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Have generated the log file and will be sending it to Acronis.

Hi James,

were there any older program versions installed? If yes, please uninstall them using Control Panel, restart your machine and start Acronis Disk Director 12 installation (as administrator) anew.

If after that the issue still reproduces please create a new installation log and post it here.

Thank you.

Hi Anna,

Thanks for your quick response.
Yes, it was slightly more complex than that.
Disk Director 11 Home was originally installed - it did work ok. Then I got DD12 and installed it - but forgot to uninstall DD11 H.

When I tried to uninstall DD11 Home afterwards it did not complete.

So I uninstalled DD12, then removed the DD11 folders.
Tried re-installing DD12 and it failed. Then removed all references to Acronis from the Registry. But there is still something on the system that makes it know that there were previous installations. So I guess the system wil no longer allow Acronis installations.

Have already done several re-boots and re-installs but all fail.

I'll try some more but, just in case this helps. The error and failure sections of teh MSI log file are:

Haivng the same problem installinf DD12 on a Win10 machine. Originally a Win 7 upgraded to Win 8 and thenWQin 10. Hit by some ransomeware, which required a complete system install.

All previous (other) DiskDirector install and files have been removed. Registry entries checked for latent files/entries.

Obviously, I need some Microsoft app to get a DD12 install.

Also, When "checking for updates' can't connect.

it is discouraging to see comments that ACronis is aware of these problems, (with Win10) and has everyone awaiting for an update. Very discouraging.  I used to swear about how good Acronis Disk Director ws. Nw I only want to swear at Acronis.

I hope can give me some clue as to how to resolve this prolem.

Hi Edward,

I'm afraid I cannot be any help on this. No longer use Acronis - but rather a combination of several other tools. Acronis products just kept failing when I needed them most.

Hello Edward,

If you have followed the KB https://kb.acronis.com/content/33449, removed leftovers from the registry, applied the cleanup tool, and the issue still persists, please contact us at http://www.acronis.com/support/contact-us.html. We would be glad to help you to get the issue resolved.

Hi, I have similar problem, I remember of ADD well, because we had in in my previous company. Now I wanted to try it on my PC, but even trial version ended with this error. I tried all Vyacheslav posted, but nothing helped. Also tried newest builds but nothing.
I would like to buy this software yet, but if it will not be working, it will be waste of money.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your posting! If the re-installation with the CleanUp Tool didn't help, try using the MS FixIt Tool from my comment here.

Dear Ekaterina,

Many thanks for advice, but that doesn't help. I tried that MS utility, it showed me Acronis True Image, so I tried to remove it by that utility, don't know what exactly it done, because it somehow restarted my PC (maybe just signed out) and than it said nothing. So I tried to install ADD with admin rights with antivir disabled, but again the same error. When I tried to use this utility again, there was no sign of any Acronis product at all, so there I ended.

Couldn't be there some connection with Acronis True Image product? Isn't that program blocking it somehow? I think before True Image I was using Disk Director normally...

Thank you

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your reply! Please collect the installation log as described here and attach it to the thread. The log file should shed light on why the installation fails.
