Drive Monitor and windows 10

Thread needs solution

I've used Drive monitor (b566) for years with windows 7, got used to it's quirks with an SSD.  But recently upgraded to windows 10 v2004 and now the main drive monitor panel is telling me that drive monitoring is not configured and it will not let me do anything about that - click the option (screenshot attached) and nothing happens

Will the program actually run under windows 10?

Hello David,

I'm afraid Acronis Drive Monitor is not developed anymore, the last supported OS would be Windows 7..

Hi,

Thanks for the confirmation.  DM doesn't even run incompatibility mode for win7. pity.  It was a great tool, especially for drive temps and the numbers of timeouts that resulting from BSOD's.

Guess I will have to uninstall it.

I love Acronis drive monitor! Used it for many years with Windows 7. There were problems with some SSD drives, but it worked otherwise.

I was able to install it on my Windows 10 laptop. Later on I noticed eventID 129 warning from UASPStor every 6 seconds in my system log. Not good! Had to uninstall it - warning gone.

It is a shame that Acronis doesn't want to update this wonderful program!

This image is telling more than anything.

As seen on the Drive Monitor web page, Windows 7 is the last officially supported Windows version.

I wish they didn't kill it. I'm not so sure they have. I think they have just abandoned it. I have not seen any official documents clearly indicating current life status of this program.

Maybe if they release the source code someone else can take on the work where they left off. I highly doubt they ever will. It's just wishful thinking. These abandoned software projects usually just fall into oblivion and die a natural death. This is especially true for proprietary software, for understandable reasons.

Hello Everyone,

Acronis Drive Monitor was\is indeed a great tool! However, as a leader in the field of cyber protection, we recognize that simply monitoring the status of the systems is not enough to protect them. Since Acronis’ mission is to deliver the most advanced, comprehensive cyber protection solutions to our users and partners, we have determined that the Acronis Monitoring Service\Acronis Drive Monitor no longer in line with our mission.  We recommend you consider our other solutions like Acronis Cyber Protect to deliver complete cyber protection to your whole infrastructure.

Acronis Drive Monitor is also a good advertising tool. Besides it's excellent S.M.A.R.T., temperature and critical events monitoring it also has backup monitoring which is essential part of your mission. Because it is free and offers good features, many users will install it and find out about other Acronis products including Acronis Cyber Protect. All you need to do is update the code to make it compatible with Windows 10 and 11.

That's a fair and a valid point. Drive Monitor can certainly serve as a freemium, or in other words, a springboard for the "full packaged product" in Microsoftian (except when it no longer comes in a shrink-wrapped box but rather as a monthly bill).

Hi All,

thank you for sharing your opinion on this tool\ways of it's development!  I've passed all the comment to the product management for review!

Thanks for the update!

Meanwhile, Microsoft will start working on Windows 12 in March 2022. You better keep up the pace.
