Backup Location Credentials / How to Change Them
We have a number of TI 2015, 2016 & 2017 backups for desktops on our domain. All of them point to a common repository on our network, an external hard drive that is connected to one of the servers. When the definitions were made and the connection to that device was established, certain credentials were entered, using a domain account. Now, if that account changes its password, all of the previously stored credentials no longer work and the backup fails.
My first question is, how do I change the stored credentials for the backup without establishing a whole new definition?
My next question is, is there some way to give the backup permanent permission to access the backup location? If not it appears that I'll have to establish a userid and password that never changes. What's the best practice here, or what do others do?

Please see KB 58004: Acronis True Image 2016: Troubleshooting Issues Related to NAS Credentials which has details of where network credentials are stored and how to clear these for when new ones need to be set.
I am not aware of any way to give permanent permission to your backup location, that would be a question for your server administrator where the backup drive is connected.
Best practice with regards to network credentials will really depend on individual circumstances, if you are using ATI in a company network with servers, then this should be directed by your company security policies and any risk assessment that may be needed.
