Backup Options Disappeared

I have ATI 2018. Last night all my backup schemes lost their options. They used to be Custom / Full backup, and had Pre commands. Now they're back to Incremental and my Pre commands disappeared. I see this happened to a lot of people a couple of years ago. Why does this happen? Is there a fix?

Mike, the last time this type of issue happened it was caused by the Acronis Dashboard servers sending out a reset to devices / tasks shown there!

Changing the Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini service from Automatic to either Manual or Disabled will prevent it from happening again but there is no way to recover the original task settings unless you have used the option to export these using the Backup settings transfer option on the ATI 2018 Settings page (at the bottom) and can import them back from the zip file this creates!

I have not heard of any other users hitting this issue here in the forums so you are either very unlucky or the first of many who will hit this!!

Hey Steve, it's worrisome that Acronis has the ability to reach into my computer and change my backups in any way. I'm tempted to disable Acronis Managed Machine Service Mini.  Other than mess up my backup plans, does MMS perform any useful function that I'll lose if I disable it?

Mike, the AMMSM service is only used for the dashboard and for web based notifications for backup tasks shown in the same.  I have had the service set to Manual since the last debacle in around November 2020 and don't use the dashboard either!

Note: the service will get reset back to Automatic if you upgrade or do a Repair Install etc.

Wow, thanks Steve. I had no idea Acronis had invisible control over my computer. I'll disable AMMSM.

Mike, see forum topic here where Acronis are acknowledging the return of this issue!
