How to synchronize files between your local computer and external hard or NAS?

In the 2013 version I had available such an opportunity.

In the new version I can synchronize between the PC on which you installed Acronis.

How do I put Acronis on an external hard drive or NAS?

Osovich, welcome to these User Forums.

Sorry but you cannot do what you ask when using ATIH 2018 (or earlier versions 2015-2017) - Sync only works to another computer running Acronis or to the Acronis Cloud service.

You can use other sync applications such as Robocopy, SyncFolders etc.

Thank you! Steve Smith, I understand what you're saying.

But Acronis 2013 able to sync folders and files on external media was.

It turns out the program of the 2018 became worse program 2013?

Happened downgrade functionality? :)

I understand that ATIH 2013 did allow this type sync as shown in the User Guide:

What you can and cannot synchronize

You can synchronize data stored in two or more folders. Let's consider where these folders may be located and what data they may contain.

Storage types

A synchronization process may be established between:

  • Two local folders on the same computer (except a folder and its subfolder)
  • A local folder on a computer and a folder on a storage device (such as a USB flash drive, USB hard drive, NAS, etc.)
  • Two folders on two storage devices
  • Two or more folders on two or more computers

This was changed in later versions of the product for reasons known only to Acronis and the ATIH 2018 User Guide simply states:

What you can and cannot synchronize

You can synchronize data stored in two or more folders. Let's consider where these folders may be located and what data they may contain.

Storage types

A synchronization process may be established between:

  • Two or more folders on two or more computers.
  • One or more computers and Acronis Cloud.

Acronis Cloud always contains the last versions of the synced files. At the same time you cannot select a folder on Acronis Cloud to participate in a sync, such folder is created automatically.

Within one sync process you may assign only one sync folder on every computer.

That is the sad.

Need to sync files to re-install Acronis 2013, then uninstall and install Acronis 2018.

And the reasons are apparently purely commercial. IMHO.

p.s. Thank you Acronis for our happy past!

p.p.s. I repeat - this is downgrade the functionality of the program.

Steve Smith - it does not claim to you personally. :)

Hello. Wanna ask too, I work in a small accounting company. And I need to store archives or transport it sometimes.
What will be better NAS, like these https://www.bestadvisor.com/network-attached-storage or a pocket with ssd?
