I've been using Acronis for 20 years and it has got me out of some bad situations.  But Now I cannot make it work to a cloud drive.  The help topic says that I should check Shadow Storage but I've never heard of this before!  This is what is returned when I run the command:-

Jean, what exactly do you mean by backing up your disks to a cloud drive?

What cloud drive are you using here?

All versions of ATI only support backups to the Acronis Cloud service and to local / network storage locations.

Shadow Copy Storage is used via the Microsoft VSS service for capturing snapshots of system data / files / programs on the Source disk drives and isn't used on destination drive locations.

VSS also doesn't work with such as network drives, mapped drives etc when these are not physically on the host system.

Hi Steve Thanks for post.
I meant backing up my local disks (two internal and one USB) in the way I have always done.  Only now instead of a NAS drive on my local network I am trying to use storage space provided by pCloud. I’ve been using them for several years to transfer large files that won’t go via email.

The backup repeatedly failed and I received the Msg that I cited which I didn’t understand.  That’s why I ran that utility as recommended in the help section for the backup failed chapter.  Unfortunately the output means nothing to me!!!

i chose to go the cloud route because the cost of an NAS has gone up tremendously but it ain’t much use if I can’t perform a backup.

i think you are suggesting that I can’t backup to the cloud unless I use the Acronis service - pCloud offer a 10-day money back guarantee so I could cancel but I just can’t see why it shouldn’t work!

it is after all just a mapped drive!

Thanks for any further insights
