What is shadow copy storage and how does it affect BackUps

I've been using Acronis for 20 years and it has got me out of some bad situations. But Now I cannot make it work to a cloud drive. The help topic says that I should check Shadow Storage but I've never heard of this before! This is what is returned when I run the command:-

I am trying to back up these disks to a cloud drive but getting nowhere very fast!

Hi Steve Thanks for post.
I meant backing up my local disks (two internal and one USB) in the way I have always done. Only now instead of a NAS drive on my local network I am trying to use storage space provided by pCloud. I’ve been using them for several years to transfer large files that won’t go via email.
The backup repeatedly failed and I received the Msg that I cited which I didn’t understand. That’s why I ran that utility as recommended in the help section for the backup failed chapter. Unfortunately the output means nothing to me!!!
i chose to go the cloud route because the cost of an NAS has gone up tremendously but it ain’t much use if I can’t perform a backup.
i think you are suggesting that I can’t backup to the cloud unless I use the Acronis service - pCloud offer a 10-day money back guarantee so I could cancel but I just can’t see why it shouldn’t work!
it is after all just a mapped drive!
Thanks for any further insights
