My system is Windows 7. My ssd died yesterday, but thank god i made a backup with TI some weeks ago.

i recovered the system, but know it will not boot and i get the message Error 1962: No operating system found. Boot sequence will automatically repeat.

How can i boot?

Also, the windows recovery disk says, that the it is not compatible...

Philipp, welcome to these User Forums.

I suspect that you may have restored your ATI backup image using a different BIOS mode than used by Windows 7.

See KB 59877: Acronis True Image 2017: how to distinguish between UEFI and Legacy BIOS boot modes of Acronis Bootable Media - which shows how the ATI rescue media can be started in these two different BIOS modes.

The other possibility would be if you did not include all the required hidden/system partitions in your backup of your original / failed SSD.

One further check - look at what you have configured in the computer BIOS for the Boot Priority or Boot Device?  If you have a Legacy boot Windows computer, then the Boot device should point to the new SSD drive, but if you have a UEFI boot Windows computer, the Boot device should be set to the 'Windows Boot Manager' for the computer to boot correctly.

If possible, replace the data cable for the HDD.  The 1962 error is common for bad or improperly connected cables.

Thanks so much for the response.

Actually, I tried an older backup from another machine with the same hardware configuration , and the recovery worked fine. No date lost, but i need to install a bit of software :)

Regarding the BIOS, I only started to fiddle around with the BIOS (UEFI/Legacy) when I could not boot.

I am not 100% sure if the BIOS was the problem, but I try now to set the BIOS right for the future, although I do not understand the issue well...

Maybe someone can indicate, how to set up the BIOS for my win7 64bit pc, that the i can recover from my backups. I attached a pic of my BIOS.

Philipp, from the screen shot, you would need to expand the top > Primary Boot Sequence option to see what is configured there?

You can also run the msinfo32 command in Windows 7 to see what that shows for the BIOS mode settings, whether it shows UEFI or shows Legacy?

Thanks, Steve.

The primary boot sequence is CD/DVD and then SSD. I excluded USB HDD and LAN. See attached picture.

msinfo32 did not show bios mode. perhaps because it is windows 7.

Anyway, I googled it, and someone suggested to install easyUEFI and if you get an error message, you are in legacy Bios mode (https://www.easyuefi.com/resource/check-windows-is-booted-in-uefi-mode…)

I got that error message, so i guess it is the legacy error bios mode (see attached pic).

Also from the  setupact.log (pic attached) I get: Callback_BootEnvironmentDetect: Detected boot environment: BIOS

So do I need to change anything to run AIT Backup and restore?

Philipp, for a Legacy BIOS boot system, you should be fine with the BIOS settings you have.

You can exclude the USB FDD from your boot order unless you actually have a USB Floppy diskette drive and a floppy disk to boot from into DOS?

You could include the USB HDD if you intend to setup the new ATI 2019 Survival Kit on your Seagate Expansion 9300 drive and use this to boot into the Acronis Rescue Media.
Note: Legacy systems are restricted to max 2TB size for the Survival Kit drive, and would want to reformat a larger drive if used, so don't do this if your Seagate drive is larger than 2TB in size!

See KB 61738: Acronis True Image 2019: Survival Kit disk partition for backups is limited to 2TB on BIOS-booted systems  - and - KB 61639: Acronis True Image 2019: How to create Acronis Survival Kit
