One-Way Sync to External Hard Drive

Can I create a one-way sync to an external hard drive? I want to have an instantaneous backup (sync) of any file changes on my internal hard drive to my external hard drive. But not the other way around.

Hello!
To ensure that our Sync function provides access to your selected synchronized data anytime, anywhere, we have focused this feature on our cloud services. This ensures that your synchronized data can be accessed even if you don’t have access to a PC or Laptop, and is securely stored in the Acronis cloud. Our previous local and mixed Sync functions could be affected if a user damaged a local destination (this was just a locally kept folder) or if something happened to the machine your data could become inaccessible. These problems do not occur with cloud synchronization, and as such we have focused our Sync feature just for the Cloud service since 2015.
Best regards!

When there is no access to the internet, accessing the cloud is impossible.
I guess I'll just have to do the backup. It just either 1) takes so much longer or 2) uses so much space

Parry, take a look at the free SyncFolders app which can be used with external drives and has an option for creating a scheduled sync task.

You could try non-stop backup however it has limitations that greatly reduce its usefulness. Because of those limitations I have only every used it for testing and assisting other users in getting it to work "properly".

You can create a one-way sync to an external hard drive. This process is also known as "mirroring." It means that any changes made to the files on your internal hard drive will be instantly reflected on your external hard drive. However, any changes made on the external hard drive will not affect the internal one.
There are several software tools available that can help you with this task. Some popular ones include SyncBackFree, GoodSync, and FreeFileSync for Windows, and Carbon Copy Cloner or ChronoSync for Mac.
Remember to carefully set up your software of choice to ensure it's only syncing in one direction - from your internal to your external hard drive. These applications usually have clear instructions and user interfaces to guide you through the process.
