Read and restore .tib files with ATI19

Thread needs solution

Hello and good day to all!

My Win10 desktop had to be completely rebuilt a month ago. It works now, but of course all programs and data from the start partition c:/ are not available anymore.

I made a last full backup under ATI19 on 10/01/2022, then another incremental backup on 10/04/2022. To access these tib files, the Acronis service allowed me to download ATI19 under a download link. I was able to install and run this ATI19. So far, so good. I then connected the External Hard Drive where my backups (*.tib) are located.

Now the problem: The newly installed ATI19 apparently does not recognize the backups on my external hard disk EXT (F:).
(1) Does it not recognize the external hard drive, because it may be that it was still called EXT (E:) at the time of the backup?
(2) Or is there something wrong with the new serial number of ATI19? The original serial number I used to register ATI19 after purchase is no longer available to me at the moment.

What can I do? Would be nice if someone could help me! Thanks a lot!

Dear Rudolf Weishaupt,

Rudolf, welcome to these public User Forums.

How are you looking at your backup files here?

See KB 61620: Acronis True Image 2019: how to restore files from a backup (Windows) for different methods of trying to recover your personal files from your available backup files.

KB 19296: Acronis products cannot be used to transfer applications to different system or upgrade OS

If you intend to restore Windows 10 from your backup files, then I would strongly recommend making a full disk backup of the current working copy of Windows as a precaution against bringing back any issues that led to the system needing to be rebuilt!  Store this is a different folder or drive to the older backup images!

Any recovery of the OS, including your programs etc, needs to be performed using the Acronis bootable rescue media!

See KB 61632: Acronis True Image 2019: how to create bootable media
Also KB 61621: Acronis True Image 2019: How to restore your computer with WinPE-based or WinRE-based media

Thank you! Through your tips I learned how Acronis works. Now I know how to use it! If you don't use Acronis professionally, but only occasionally, for example to recover accidentally deleted files, at first you don't know how to use it when a big accident occurs.
