Guten Tag,

For the first time, I have a computer supported. Now I have an Acronis Tib backup file on a DVD. How can I restore from this tib file. If I choose recover, the system tells me that I should first create a backup.

Wolfgang, sorry but more questions to ask than answers that can be given here!

What type of backup file is the .tib file on your DVD media?
Is it a Disk backup image .tib file?  If yes, then of what disk - a Windows OS drive or a Data drive?
Is it a Files & Folders image .tib file?

My reason for the above questions is that a DVD disc is probably too small to hold most more recent versions of Windows OS images such as from Windows 7, 8 or 10.

The type of backup file also directly impacts on the type of recovery that should be used for the .tib file.

If you have a Files & Folders .tib file, then you could recover all the contents to a folder on an internal or external storage drive without the need to lose any other data that might be stored on the same drive.

If you have a Disk .tib file, then there are further questions such as what you want to achieve by recovering it?  Are you trying to recover a working OS to a PC that it was captured from, or recover it to a different / new PC?  What is that OS?

Do you have ATI 2019 installed on the PC where you are attempting these recovery actions for the .tib file on the DVD?

If yes, then you can try double-clicking on the .tib file from the DVD in Explorer and check that it will open and allow you to browse the contents.  You could then use normal Copy & Paste controls to retrieve any files or folders from the .tib file.

If you are wanting to do a Disk recovery of an OS .tib backup image, then it is best to do this by booting the destination PC using the Acronis bootable rescue media, and not to attempt doing this from within Windows.
