Scheduled backup REFUSING to run

Hello,

For context:

Acronis TI 2020 Build 38600, Windows 11 Home, 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD, Intel Core i9-1300K

I have added a scheduled backup to run at 3:00 everyday to backup documents, pictures and videos. The scheduled backup REFUSES to run, no matter what I do. I have ensured all the required services are running as per another article on this issue, I have even set a windows task scheduler to wake the computer up from sleep at 2:58 - but nothing. Wake timers have been allowed in the windows power plans and the scheduled task is waking the PC from sleep (because the setting in Acronis would not work).

The power plan is set so the display turns off after 10 minutes and the PC sleeps after 15 minutes of inactivity. One thing I have just noticed is that the hard disk was set to turn off after 60 minutes but I'm not sure that's having any effect as the scheduled task is still waking the PC up on time. I've set it to "never" anyway. I have another scheduled task which automatically puts the computer to sleep when the user locks it but again, the task scheduler is still waking the PC up on time at 2:58.

I had the same issue on my previous PC running windows 10 but a scheduled task to wake the PC up from sleep fixed this issue.

I've created a system report but it will not allow me to upload it.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, does the backup task run is you click on Backup Now or if you move the schedule to run at a time when you are at the computer?

System report zip files tend to exceed the maximum 3MB file upload size set for the forum, so if you want us to look at it then you will need to provide a link to a cloud share using such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive etc.

Note: you can send me the cloud share link via a private message using the 'send message' option under my name in the left column of this post.

On a previous version of the backup, I checked the 'activity' section and the backup was running when I was at the PC. I then deleted this version and re-created it, to see if that fixed the issue but no luck.

I have messaged you an iCloud Drive link to the system log, let me know if there are any issues. Thank you.

Chris, sorry but the link is not working - says it is unavailable / owner has stopped sharing.

Chris, thanks for the system report zip file.  The first thing that I can see is a problem with your WD Elements 2TB external USB drive that is showing errors in the disks.txt report.

Thanks for your prompt response. The 2TB external USB disk is currently empty and there are no backup files in it? I have private messaged the acronis disk report.

Chris, sorry but I have not been able to access any private messages today (constant 504 Gateway Time-out errors!).

Your earlier system report zip included the disk report I referenced in my previous post and will include all connected drives.  The disk report text file can be attached / uploaded directly to the forum as is only a few kb in size.

Chris, finally managed to access your disk report file and it shows exactly the same as I posted above, i.e. that the external drive is seen by Acronis as having an invalid format.

I would suggest that you reformat the drive as NTFS if it is not holding any important data.

Hi Steve

I've reformatted as NTFS and still no luck I'm afraid. I also did the proper format, not the quick format.

I'm going to try and re-add the backup and "backup now" to see if this fixes it.

Hi Steve

It backed up on the scheduled time at 3am this morning, according to the Acronis history.

So, looks like it's working properly now. Thanks for your help with this.

Happy new year.

Chris
