Windows 11 crash during backup after Windows 24H2

Thread needs solution

My daily and full backups have been crashing Windows 11 all of October. Last successful backup was end of September before the Windows 11 24H2 update. I suspect it has something to do with the bogus cache issue. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I've been using SyncBackFree to backup my file changes since then to insure I have the latest files backed up. Computer works fine unless I start the backup which gets almost to the end before Windows BSOD.

Hello Robert,

Welcome to the forum!

Have you checked the Windows Event Logs to identify the crash and determine the source of the error?

If not, I recommend reviewing the following Knowledge Base article: Checking Windows Event Log for issues with computer environment.

Also, have you recently installed any new software or performed an OS update? It might be helpful to use the Event Viewer to see if the machine is overloaded, such as by checking resource consumption—this could potentially point to the root of the issue.

If you’ve already checked these aspects, please open a support ticket at Acronis Support, as we’ll need specific logs to further investigate.

Best regards

i.e. "Agree with Lee... and while I dont have a vested interest in MacOS...
Is this an indication of what we can expect from Acronis re something like Windows 24H2?
I will/would be SUPER pissed if my Acronis breaks when it is released and we get a lame "Oh, its just released so we need time to check and fix to make sure its compatible".

Hello Yoji,

That shouldn’t be happening, at least based on what the team has informed me.

Best regards.

Good.. I am holding off, since 24H2 is not (to my mind) released yet, it does seem to be released already for "copilot PC" specs.. and for idiots who sign up to be beta testers via the " get the latest updates as soon as they are available". But its not yet avail to standard Win 11 users who dont sign up for beta.. so I happy to wait.
But as I say.. mega pissed if Acronis not working with it by the time it officially released.

One of systems is on the Windows 11 preview channel. I have had not issues with 24H2 when using AATI 2025.

I did have issues with one Windows update failing to install (as did a lot of other on the preview channel) but it now fixed.

Yes, I checked the System Log but there is never a related entry. The computer gets a BSOD at 0%, freezes, and never logs anything. It consistently crashes with no other foreground applications running. This happened with an existing scheduled backup that had been running daily without any problem thru 9/30/24 before the Windows 11 24H2. Computer runs without issue except for Acronis backup.

7 month old Origin Neuron computer with a AMD 7950X3D cpu, MSI X670E Carbon motherboard, 64Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR5, Nvidia RTX 4080 Super GPU, Samsung 4TB 990 drive, and Windows 11 Pro.

Hello Robert,

This must be investigated, and crash dump logs need to be analyzed to determine what's going on.

I reviewed our system but didn't find any similar issues.

I have contacted our support team and raised a ticket for this purpose to check everything.

The reference is 06549627. You can expect an email shortly.

Feel free to update this thread anytime you need.

Best regards.

Acronis Customer Care created a ticket and provided me a new download version AcronisTrueImage_41517.exe which has worked so far 3 times including one incremental without crashing. I'm not sure if it is a forthcoming release or what but it worked for me so far.

LOL.. so you had not even tried with the latest version before posting?
So what version of Acronis were you using which was crashing? Acronis has traditionally been pretty good with different version of windows.. so  ATI 2017 and later all seem be happy with windows 11.  But may be 24H2 changes that. So what version of Acronis were you on that was crashing? (I cant see in any of your previous posts here where you mentioned)

Build 41517 was released back in September for all ATI 2025 users.

Thanks, I apply updates as I am notified so must have already been on v41517. I assume rerunning the update repaired something that had become corrupted.
