Acronis 2013 with Pluspack and GPT

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I have some issues using the rescue media since my disk is not detected when booting from the CD. So i searched this forum and found out that the bootable media that i can download from Acronis is actually a updated rescue media ISO even if it still says build 6514. It would have been really useful to not use the same build number if this is a newer build compared to the media i create from TI 2013 build 6514. Either way the downloaded ISO worked fine and my disk is detected when booting from this CD which is not the case when i create a rescue media from the TI gui. This been a problem for pretty long now so a bit surprised there is no new build available to solve this problem.

So my question, is there a newer build of TI that solve the problem where the disk is not detected when booting the the rescue media created from the TI gui? If yes how do i get this new build?

Some might suggest that i should just use the bootable media downloaded from Acronis, but i would like to create a WinPE bootable media where my GPT partitions are detected when booting from the CD i create. To do so i need a new build where this issue has been solved and according to some people in this forum there is newer builds available that Acronis can supply to their customers. How can i get a new build of Acronis TI 2013 and the pluspack where this problem is solved?

For the record I currently got True Image 2013 build 6514 with the pluspack.

If there should be any doubt what problem i refer to it's the one discussed in this thread:

Thanks in advance

Until a full version of the installable program is released, you will have to use the downloaded ISO to support your GPT disks, unless you wish to install build 5551 (older build) of 2013 and apply the patches to correct issues in this build (Secure Boot, COM Surrogate Issues, etc.)

Thank you for the reply, but i was hoping for some news if there is any or will be a new build available in the close future where this bug is fixed. As i said i'm surprised there is no new build available after so long where this bug is fixed. It's appreciated Acronis released the ISO pretty fast after the bug were discovered, but i think they had a lot of time to release a new build of True Image as well by now.

I guess i have no choice, but to stick with the ISO for now and just hope for a new build so i can create a WinPE bootable disk again. I been using TI for several years now and I'm pretty sure I will buy the upgrade to 2014 when released, but it's a bit disappointing if I have to buy a new release just to get a bugfixes.

Hello gan, James,

thank you for your posts.

Gan, thank you for your support of Acronis products and for your feedback.

Since the problem with recognition of GPT disks is related to bootable media only, it was decided not to release installation file with fix publicly.

But I'll send you a download link for installation file of True Image Home 2013 by Acronis containing fix for following issues:

-Boot media doesn't recognize GPT disk in backup wizard.

-Wireless keyboard or mouse does not work under the boot media.

via PM, so that you can create a WinPE media.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hello Anna. i think i have a simmilar Problem. If i boot from an DVD that was created by burning that newest iso i could download, my hard drives
both GPT are corectly shown if i selecect backup entire disk.
If i boot from my USB stick, that was created by the Rescue Media Builder Build 6514 no hard disk is listed if i select backup entire disk.
If i select backup files get a list off all hard drives(c:, d: etc.). So if this is the same bug could you please also send
me a link to that newer version?

Hello Norman,

thank you for posting here and welcome to Acronis Forum!

As far as I understood, the newest linux media build 6528 (currently available under account) works correct for you, but you want to have bootable USB instead of bootable CD.

Since you do not need WinPE, I would advise you to burn the same .iso file with linux-based media on USB, using for example this free software.

Let me know, if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

How did you use the ISO to create a bootable USB flash drive?
Have you created other (non-Acronis) bootable USB flash drives from ISOs using the same process?

Norman,
Which version of Windows?

Acronis recently added a revised iso file to their current version although the date and build number remain the same.
Have you treid that.

Here is another method of making the flash drive bootable.
