Hi,

I'm using Acronis TIH 2009 on Vista 32bit
I used to backup to a NAS, over SMB/CIFS share, without much issues (besides it was becoming very slow). So I switched to a new NAS (WD MyBook Live, 2TB edition), created a backup share (public, no password needed)
I've scheduled 2 backups (and using the chain2gen tool):
- 1 full image backup of my c-drive (system partition)
- 1 backup of my d-drive
BOTH to the same NAS

for the c-drive backup:
the first few manual backups were fine, now since a few weeks I get the dreaded error :

Information 13/06/2011 22:24:11 Pending operation 135 started: "Saving partition structure"
Information 13/06/2011 22:24:13 File I/O error (0x40011)
function = "OpenFileW",
filename = "\\?\UNC\crenas05\backup\maximus_c\set0\maximus_c_dw_v3-.tib"
Tag = 0xF35F747B3B21F833
The system cannot find the file specified (0xFFF0)
code = 80070002)
Tag = 0xBD28FDBD64EDB8B9

it looks like I can mount the created backup, a validation is still running (takes hours) but the last days I was not able to make a c-drive image backup without errors.

the d-drive backup is without errors

I already rebooted my pc multiple times: no improvement
I also performed chkdsk & a defrag more than once on my c-drive: no improvement
I also tried to disconnect all USB drives and reboot: no improvement

I've seen similar issues on the forum, but none with a solution yet

I hope there still is someone out there who can help

Olivier

ATI is trying to create an incremental backup based on an archive that IS password protected.

You should try to delete your backup task and create a new task.

Hi Pat,

thanks for such quick response.

let me try to clarify : the backup image indeed is password protected/encrypted
however, it is the first backup, so it is the implicit full backup, not yet the incremental
I tried to recreate that task alredy a few times, no joy :(

I also take most of my backups encrypted, also the ones for the d-drive, and no issues there

Olivier

P.S. to all : the build of my TIH 2009 is 9615

If this error happens even for the first full backup, then it is because ATI cannot access the share and/or the folder hierarchy. When you set up the task, are you trying to go through a mapped drive?

Hi,

as you can see in the log, it is through UNC path

I find it strange that ATI cannot access the share after just completing the backup, because it does create all files for the full backup (about 80 GB in tibfiles), it seems the error comes just after finishing the image, before even starting the validation

also, the backup of my d-drive (which follows immediately) is to the same share on the same nas : no issues there

I am afraid I cannot help you more. Try to run that backup to a local disk to see whether this is a client or a network issue. Even if we can identify the issue, I am not sure it can be resolved as you already deleted and recreated the task.
You might want to give ATI 2011 a try...

locally it works, also to an old (slow) NAS
so you could say it is the NAS fault, BUT a data backup (from D-drive) does work without errors to that new NAS

ATI2011 means to pay again (without guarantee it solves the issue)
and (as I follow the forums) potenially introduce a whole lot new issues :(

It looks like some networking/credentials setting between the NAS and your computer, but I am not competent in that area to help you diagnose.

There is a trial of 2011.
