Acronis True Image Home 2014 refuses to close, eats up disk & CPU cycles

I posted this issue before but was not able to find a resolution. This time I made an animated GIF to illustrate the issue (see attached.)

To repro the bug, have Windows Task Manager running, then start Acronis True Image Home 2014, let it open up and then close it. Watch its process via the Task Manager. It will continue using CPU & disk for an extended period of time. (The first time this happened, I let it run overnight and by morning it continued running while using about 15% CPU clock & also having used up about 80% of RAM on the system.)

Note that if I start a second True Image Home process, it will do the exact same thing and refuse to close.

Also note that Acronis installs several of their services alongside this user UI process, so there's really no need for it to continue running after I close it.

Any clarification on how to fix this would be appreciated?

Not sure if this will help but here is a link that desribes TI processes and services:

It may shed some light on the issue.
