Hello

Every time I open Edit backup settings or Schedule and click "save", the following error is recorded in Event Log of True Image Home 2012 Plus Pack.

"Failed to obtain device bus type"
"Event code: 0x000901F4+0x00141389+0x0000FFF0+0x80070001"

However, TIH seems to recognize all the devices on my PC and shows all the SSDs and HDDs on its window. Also Backup and Recovery can be complete seccessfully.

Is there anyone who knows what that strange Error Log means exactly?

My PC's environments
Motherboard : GYGABYTE, GA-X58A-UD3R
CPU : Intel, Core i7 950
OS : Microsoft, Windows 7 Professional 64bit

(Intel ICH10R, Rapid Storage Technology)
2 SSDs (RAID 0) and 3 HDDs
(Marvell 9128 Chipset, SATA 6Gb/s)
2 SSDs
(GIGABYTE SATA2 Chipset, SATA 3Gb/s)
HDD (eSATA) and DVD Drive

Thanks.

Hello Phooen,

Thank you very much for your post.

I would really appreciate if you could get back to me with the screenshot of the error message and this report so that we can assist you with resolving this issue.

At the moment it is not clear why it occurs. To localize the issue, would it be possible for you to schedule this backup to a different backup location?

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Hello Anton,

Thank you for your rapid reply.

According to your suggestion, I've sent an email to that 'Managers' with the screenshot and the report 'AcronisInfo.zip' attached.

To localize the issue, I've tried some ways. The error log was recorded even when I changed the schedule to a different backup location. And it seems to occur inevitably only when I click 'OK' or 'Cancel' on the 'Schedule' window.

I would appreciate if you could assist me with resolving this issue.

Thanks a lot.

Hello Anton,

I finally found the cause.
I'm using a RAMdisk ('RamPhantomEX', I-O DATA, Japan). It is the reason the error log is recorded.
If the RAMdisk is deleted, no error log is recorded.

The question is whether TIH 2012 which has the error as it is can perform backup and recovery properly.
I would really like to know how this error affects the performance of TIH 2012 in practice.
Because I need to use the RAMdisk.

Thank you.

Hello,

I have received an answer on this matter from Ahmad Ibrahimov, Expert & Forum Teams Manager, Acronis Customer Central.

He says,
"This makes the whole situation much more clear - since RAMdisk is not a usual disk, Acronis True Image Home cannot read it and produces the warnings in the log.
There is nothing to worry about in this case, because other disks are detected and backed up fine. "

I'm relieved to hear that.
Those who use a RAMdisk like me should not worry about that error log.

Thanks.

Had you mentioned the RAM disk originally, this might have been resolved much sooner. This is an example of why it's important to mention relevant details.

I'm glad you got it sorted.

You can say that again!

But, a sought answer is sometimes hidden in an unexpected place.
