Clone 1 partition to smaller drive

I'm using Intel Data Migration Software to clone a 600 MB HD to a 500 MB Intel SSD. There are several partitions on the source drive (It's a mac pro running bootcamp with Windows and Mac partitions) --- I want to clone only the Windows partition to the SSD, so there is plenty of room on the SSD for what I want to do.

But when I go to use the migration software, the source drive is grayed out because it is smaller. How can I work around this, and convince it to move just the one partition from the source drive I want?

Russ,

Is the Intel Data Migration software based on Acronis technology or is it Intel proprietary software?

From an Acronis point of view, you can't clone one partition out of many, it is a complete disk or nothing, however using either Acronis ME or True Image clone utility you would be able to clone to a smaller drive, but only the complete disk. To 'clone' a single partition would require making an image of that partition and then restoring the image to a new drive, which again can be smaller to some extent.

I don't have experience of Intel product if it is not based on acronis software.

One other thing to note, if you are trying to clone a Windows partition in a Mac, I think you have to do this without the system booted (all clones containing the system partition should be from outside the OS) and I'm not sure if the Windows booting is contained within Bootcamp or on the windows partition itself.

Colin,

Intel's data migration software is the OEM True Image Home v13 (2010) (build 14133).

Ahh, thanks, Intel might have altered parts of it compared to the standard 2010.
