Migrate Easy Black Screen

I am trying to clone my boot drive (C) to a new internal hard drive, both are 1TB in size, with the C drive containing about 320G of data. I started the process 5 hours ago, ran some errands and came back. The screen is blank, but the PC is still on.

is this normal, or should there be a status screen? How long should a disk this size take to clone (I understand there are several variables, but on average)?

thanks

It shouldn't take 5 hours, unless your new drive is connected via a USB port that is operating at USB 1.0 speeds, even then 5 hours seems a little long.

Did you start the clone from within Windows or from the CD?

What setup are you using - is the new drive in the PC or in an external caddy?

Is this a PC or a laptop?

Was the original drive encrypted at all?

What format is your old drive - FAT32, NTFS etc?

I have the same problem, after/during step 4 screen goes blank, you get disc operation, the power light blinks on/off. How do I know if migrating easy 7.0 is working? It just keeps humming along 8-10 hours.

I have a similar problem with Acronis Migrate Easy.

After specifying all the parameters Migrate Easy reboots the PC.

Screen goes black, then starts shows the following status:

Analysing Partitions 100%

Locking Partitions 100%

Checking partitions 100%

Analysing Partitions 100%

Then it hangs up here for 18 hours.  Is it finished?

This is the setup:  Desktop PC, Vista OS, Orig Disk 600GB,  New Disk 1TB mounted in external SATA Caddy no encreyption, Formatt NTFS, Software started from within Windows.

I cloned the disk before with a new 2TB disk and it ran OK.  It gave me a running status of reads and rights and ongoing %.  Same setup.

JGZ,

When you cloned the disk previously what product did you use?

Did you realise that True Image contains 'Migrate Easy' it is just called Clone from within TI. The Clone function contained within True Image is likely to be more up to date as far as drivers is concerned than Migrate Easy.

I use Migrate Easy for both clones.  The OS is Vista and not supported by True Image.  I also have True Image.

After letting the clone process run for 24 hours I rebooted my machine.  Migrate Easy Completted message came out.  No No.  The disk would not register in windows.

I restarted Migrate Easy and used the manual option.  Guess what.  The new drive had no partiitions.  I continued the manual process and let her go.

To my supprise, I got the 3 100% messages and then I jumped into the messages I was familuar with.  Ran for 6 hours and I got what appears to be a good clone.  I haven't tried to boot from it yet.

That was cloning a 600GB drive to a 1TB drive.  583GBs transferred.

If I remember correctly, True Image requires that I mount the new drive in the PC before cloneing.  I tried different cloning methods.  At this point I'm not sure which software had this requirement.

I wish to clone using a SATA external caddy attached via USB connecter for the cloneing process.
