have to apply again to support a serious problem for me as at the present are not yet able to perform backups with vmProtect 9.
The problem occurred with the upgrade esxi 5.0 to 5.5 and vmProtect 8.x to 9.x
The following errors when attempting backup:

host esxi:

operations carried out by me, and also suggested by the acronis support were those of:
1 remove vmware tools from the virtual machines
2 install vmware tools on virtual machines
3 vmProtect delete host esxi
4 install vmProtect host esxi

I hope someone is able to give support to this problem, as this software is not free!!, To date does not work!

Hi Matteo,

It appears that in your case the error is thrown by VMware itself, which cannot take snapshot of the VM after upgrade of the ESXi host. Similar problem is described here:

http://www.mrtechjunkie.com/error-occurred-taking-snapshot-msg-snapshot…

In that case re-installation of VMware tools helped (while you tried that already), but really the problem is related to VMware, since Acronis vmProtect is not injecting any specific actions into snapshot creation process. You can check that by trying to take the snapshot (with quiesced=on, memory=off options) from the vSphere client to confirm the issue. I'd recommended contacting VMware support for assistance - once the snapshot problem is fixed, the backups will continue to work.

Thank you.

I have the same issue here with a replication after having changed vCenters.

When I go into vCenter I CAN do a snapshot with those settings and it works fine. The issue is only when replication tries to run. I updated the tools and rebooted the host but cannot seem to get this to replicate anymore <or backup for that matter>

Is there any other suggestions you may have?

Hi Scott,

Most likely you either have different problem (unrelated to snapshot creation) or the snapshot creation fails randomly (not each time). In any case please contact our support team for assistance. Remember to attach the full log from View->Show Logs->Save All To File and vmware.log file captured from the datastore folder of the VM which had been replicated (the vmware.log will show the parameters used to capture the snapshot manually and while doing replication). These logs should be captured after reproducing the issue and attempt to capture snapshot from vSphere client (quiesced=on,memory=off).

Thank you.
