Tape replication and size of folder "tape location" ...

Hi,

If we use tape replication of 15 TB backup data (tibx files only), the Tape Replication folder grows by 150-200 GB with each new tape set. When we delete a tape set, the size of the folder decreases by the same size. What is the reason for this huge amount of data for this small number of files? Is there any option to avoid this amount of data in tape replication?

Note: The option for file recovery information is not available for replication jobs.

Many thanks,

Erik

Hello Erik!

Thank you for posting this question on Acronis forums.

Please check the type of the original backup. If it is a file/folder backup, then it is normal for it to create a database with hashes of each file/folder.

Hello Maria,

thanks for your answer - the original backup is (Hyper-V) VM only, no folders. That's why I'm wondering that there is so much data created when replication is used...

Is there any option to decrease the amount of data? Would be very helpful...

Many thanks and have a nice weekend,

Erik

Hello Erik.

If in a Backup section of the respective plan you see Entire machine or Disk/Volumes backup, then we recommend that you open a case with Acronis Support Team since this should be reproduced and investigated.

Otherwise, if it is a File/folder backup, then it is a normal scenario.
