Hi, I just installed Drive monitor on my computer and have a Corsair Force 3 ssd and the temperature is 210 degree fahrenheit. Is this bad???? Can this high temperature cause damage???
TJ, did you ever get a response to your question. I have the exact same problem and get the same 210 degree report. That seems in error, if you run the Corsair Tool Box utilities, it shows 86 degrees. All other utilities I have run, show normal temperature.
These temp readings are obviously false. The application is drawing this temp reading from the wrong sensor or is being skewed by the firmware of the drive itself. I have never heard of an SSD having a temp sensor anyway so I would say not to worry.
For the PNY CS1111 240 GB and 480 GB SSD drives, Acronis Drive Monitor always warns that the drive is 212F = 100C. As Enchantech says, these temperature readings are obviously false. But Acronis Drive Monitor has no option to ignore the drive temperature, so the only way to stop the warning was to uninstall Acronis Drive Monitor. That's unfortunate, because one of the machines has two drives: one SSD and one HDD, and I'm sorry to lose the ability to monitor the HDD. Acronis Drive Monitor really needs the ability to disable temperature monitoring for a drive, and it ought to recognize obviously false readings from SSD drives and automatically disable temperature monitoring for such drives.
2017 UPDATE: Under Options -> Disk Monitoring it is possible to disable monitoring for specific drives. So I disabled monitoring for the SSD, and kept it for the HDD.
One other problem I've run into is with the event log monitoring. When right-clicking on an event, there are two options for dismissing the error: ignore once, and ignore always. Neither is what is needed! If a drive caused hundreds of errors, dismissing each of them one at a time is incredibly tedious, because Acronis Drive Monitor doesn't support selecting more than one at a time. But if I say to "ignore always" then I'll presumably lose the ability to see errors like that in the future. Acronis Drive Monitor really needs the ability to either select multiple events and say "ignore once" for all of them, or else support a command to "ignore all currently logged events like this, but not events like this in the future." Also, it is not clear whether "ignore always" ignores all events of that type for all drives, or just ignores all events of that type for a particular drive. It OUGHT to be the later, but, even more importantly, ADM ought to tell the user what it does.
2017 UPDATE: The only way I've found to get rid of a very large number of event log errors (e.g., after I temporarily connected a bad drive, for data recovery), is to:
1. Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer -> >Windows Logs -> right-click System -> Clear Log...
2. then uninstall Acronis Drive Monitor
3. then reinstall Acronis Drive Monitor
Interestingly, the uninstall/reinstall preservers ADM's "options," which obvously means that the uninstaller did an incomplete job, but it is convenient in this situation.
NOTE: Acronis Drive Monitor hasn't been updated in over six years. I guess we should be thankful that it still runs, at all.
I found the problem for my SSD which is a Kingston HyperX 3K (SH103S3240G). It indicates that the drive is at 100°c which it is obviously not. I think it uses the SMART ID 231 to monitor the temperature which is in reality the SSD time left as mentionned in the doc from Kingston (link here). The parameter for the temperature is the ID 194 that indicates in the screenshot 30 °c which is good for a SSD. That's why I have two SMART temperature parameters and only one is correct.
So I think it will be good if we were able to select the parameter to consider as temperature and the one that is an other parameter. And also if we were able to determine the min and max values from some others SLART parameter to be compliant with the doc.
It seems that this is a problem across all SSDs. I have three SSDs, once each from three different vendors: PNY, SanDisk, and Emtec. Acronis Drive Manager shows the temp as 100C for all three SSDs.
Does Acronis not monitor these forums at all? Since this is a known long-term issue, and SSD usage is becoming mainstream, a solution for this besides "simply ignore this warning" should have been applied by now.
Acronis has discontinued developing Acronis Drive Monitor, therefore no updates for this product. However the tool is still available for free on the website.
Ekaterina Surkova, it is a shame to see Acronis Drive Monitor die. (I see that it was last updated in early 2011.)
How about open-sourcing the source code?
I have the same problem with temperature readings.
Perhaps several SMART parameters are confused?
