Failed To Read Data From The Disk Error - Acronis True Home 2015

Failed to read from sector 1,049,747,464 of hard disk '2'.
I'm not sure which disk (source or destination) is disk 2, but I ran chkdsk/ r on both the source and destination and no errors found on either disk (took a couple of days on my destination 9TB drive). In Disk Management, my source (D) is listed as Disk 1. My destination (L) is listed as Disk 3. Disk 2 is a Z drive and has nothing to do with this backup, but the Z drive backs up fine.
But I'm still getting this failure. As it's a failure to read, I don't know if it's the D drive (SSD) or trying to read on the source drive (HDD) after writing.
Any help appreciated.
Michael

Thanks for the disk clarification. As you can see from my original post, I ran chkdsk/ r on both the source and destination drives (only one partition each), which found no errors. I also ran Macrorit Disk Scanner on both drives which also found no error. I was able to complete a BU by hitting Ignore All, but what I am wondering, since each time it failed, it gave a different disk sector, is if Acronis couldn't read the sector because another program was writing to it.
Honestly, I have no clue.

A disk read error, in my experience, is always an indication of a disk issue.

Here's the log file (regular view) for one of the failures. As I mentioned before, I was able to do a BU by hitting Ignore All when I got the failure popup (this is not that log file):

The log just really confirms that there are disk read errors for your D: drive (disk 2), including areas of the drive where snapshot data has been written and is being read back as part of the backup process.
Can you open an Administrator level Command prompt window, then type in the following commands:
diskpart list disk select disk 1 list partition list volume
If I do the same on my own system with 2 disk drives installed, I see as shown below (albeit this was done using an Administrator powershell window rather than a command prompt).
PS D:\> diskpart Microsoft DiskPart version 10.0.18362.1 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. On computer: STEVE-9OP3KKF0 DISKPART> list disk Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt -------- ------------- ------- ------- --- --- Disk 0 Online 119 GB 6144 KB * Disk 1 Online 931 GB 0 B * DISKPART> select disk 1 Disk 1 is now the selected disk. DISKPART> list partition Partition ### Type Size Offset ------------- ---------------- ------- ------- Partition 1 Primary 465 GB 1024 KB Partition 2 Primary 465 GB 465 GB DISKPART> select disk 0 Disk 0 is now the selected disk. The above shows what actual partitions are present on the drives, including any hidden or system partition (as shown for my main OS disk 0 with its System, Reserved & Recovery partitions). The final 'list volume' command shows the assigned drive letters corresponding to the partitions (by size) shown above.

Thanks for the further disk information. As I read this, I see as shown below:
Disk 0 Online 465 GB 1024 KB * Volume 0 Windows RE NTFS Partition 450 MB Healthy Volume 1 C Windows NTFS Partition 464 GB Healthy Boot Volume 2 NTFS Partition 860 MB Healthy Disk 1 Online 3726 GB 1024 KB * [SOURCE DISK] Partition 1 Reserved 15 MB 17 KB Volume 3 SYSTEM FAT32 Partition 100 MB Healthy System Partition 2 Primary 3726 GB 16 MB Volume 4 D Storage NTFS Partition 3726 GB Healthy Disk 2 Online 232 GB 1024 KB * Volume 6 Z Installers NTFS Partition 232 GB Healthy Disk 3 Online 9 TB 0 B * [DESTINATION DISK] Volume 7 L 9TB Backup NTFS Partition 9 TB Healthy Disk 4 Online 931 GB 0 B Volume 8 I Archive NTFS Partition 931 GB Healthy Disk 5 Online 4657 GB 0 B * Volume 9 K Grass Valle NTFS Partition 4657 GB Healthy Disk 6 Online 931 GB 0 B Volume 10 M Media Libra NTFS Partition 931 GB Healthy Disk 10 Online 1863 GB 1024 KB Volume 5 S Installer & NTFS Partition 1863 GB Healthy
If the above is correct, then there is a hidden / system 100MB System Reserved FAT32 partition present on your source disk 1 drive, as well as the main D: 3726GB partition.
I would recommend identifying the maker of this drive then going to their support site and download any tools provided that can do a full disk check (ignoring all partitions).
Dedicated diagnostic utilities from the disk manufacturers take the longest time to complete the checks, but provide the most accurate methods of checking whether the disk is good or needs replacement:
- Western Digital drives: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows
- Seagate disks: SeaTools for Windows
- HGST disks: HGST Windows Drive Fitness Test (WinDFT)
- Intel SSDs: Intel Solid State Drive Toolbox
- Samsung drives: Samsung Magician
- ADATA drives: ADATA SSD ToolBox
- Kingston SSDs: Kingston SSD Toolbox, Kingston SSD Manager
- Transcend SSDs: Transcend SSD Scope
- Silicon Power disks: SP ToolBox
- Toshiba disks: Toshiba PC Diagnostic Tool Utility
- Crucial disks: Crucial Storage Executive

First, I just want to thank you for taking the time on this issue. I'll download the Samsung tool and run it overnight.

Here's a photo from Samsung's tool. No issues found. Just so it's in the same post:

I have to confess to running out of ideas / suggestions here for this issue.
The next suggestions I can offer have to be to try a different backup application or newer version of ATI to see if you are given the same read errors or not?
Acronis would recommend that you take out a 30-day trial of their ATI 2020 application and test with that version. If you decide to go that route, then make a copy of your current OS partition with ATI 2015 installed and keep that in readiness for if you decide you want to recover back to your pre-trial state.
The key advantage of trying ATI 2020 is that you will have 30 days of free support during the trial period so can open a support ticket to get Acronis to investigate in more depth.
There are other backup applications available that you can test, i.e. the free version of Macrium Reflect will allow you to make Full or Differential backups (but not Incremental), others include Easus ToDo along with more. See this webpage for a longer list of alternative solutions.

Since I already have Macrium Reflect installed (free version), I'll try on Monday to make a full backup of the D drive to see what happens. If that's good, I'll do a TI 2015 backup to see what happens, then decide on the 2020 route.
Thanks again for all your help.

Macrium Reflect backed-up with no errors...guess it's time for me to upgrade.
