Warning " Failed to serialize object 'Resource'. "
Some days ago, our Acronis for VMware platform (Acronis Backup for VMware Agent build 9.2.10535) has started to display this message:
Failed to serialize object 'Resource'.
Error code: 114
Message: Failed to serialize object 'Resource'.
Error code: 116
Message: Failed to get the object's property 'LicenseEditions'.
Error code: 257
Fields: faultTypeId : 0
Message: SOAP fault code: '12', Description: 'A general system error occurred: HTTP error response: Service Unavailable', Detail: 'HTTP error response: Service Unavailable'
I searched a bit on the internet but I didn't find anything relevant or useful about the object "Resource".
Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance.
SOAP fault code means the message is returned by the VMware API as the response to our request. Does the backup works despite of this message? Have you tried to reboot the appliance/VMware tools/the host (if possible)? Seems to be a temporary connection glitch.
Is it possible to ping the host from the appliance?
In risposta a Hi, … di Ekaterina
You mean the VMWare tools of the machine that shows the warning?
The backup is working, despite of this message.
I can't reboot the host because it has many VMs, maybe i can only reboot the appliance?
How can I do a ping from the appliance to the host?
Thank you for your reply! Try to reboot the appliance and check if the host can be accessed from the console of the appliance
To do this
- Connect to ESX(i) host/vCenter via vSphere Infrastructure Client and click on the installed and running Virtual Appliance;
- Go to Console tab (the GUI of the Virtual Appliance) and press CTRL-SHIFT-ALT-SPACE-F1 and then ALT-F2;
- Type the command ping ESXi_host_IP_Address
However, if you don't experience any connection issues, the root case should lie somewhere else. If you also see the following message in the log VMware_VDDK: Insufficient permissions in the host operating system, check out the comment https://forum.acronis.com/comment/174391#comment-174391
I'd also suggest trying to revoke and re-assign the license to the affected host.
I've tried to ping the affected host from the Virtual Appliance and I can reach it without losing packets or other problems.
Now I've revoked the license to the host and this evening when backups will be running, the license will be reassigned and tomorrow or Thursday, I can update you if this operation will resolve the problem.
