Drive Monitor consumes CPU constantly, using WMI
Win 7 x64
Right after installing Drive Monitor, I noticed that my task manager is showing high cpu usage from wmiprvse.exe very frequently.
I enabled the WMI-Activity Trace log in Event Viewer to see what was using WMI. I found drive monitor's PID in there over and over.
After a couple days of getting tired of have my cpu usage going way up and down all the time, I uninstalled Drive Monitor, rebooted, and never had the problem since.
I think you need to back off on how often drive monitor is doing this, or try to make it use very little cpu.
I would love to be able to just run the drive monitor check when I want and then have it stop and exit altogether. And I would really love to be able to run a command line version that will dump problems to a log file.
Try deleting some of the ADM event log files, a large amount has been known to cause the problem you mention.
On W7 systems you will find it at : C:\ProgramData\Acronis\DriveMonitor\EventLogs
I have the same Problem: every 10 min ADM is taking all of available Memory and the System is nearly down for about 2-3 min. This is terrible, but I Need to ha look on the health of my older HDDs. Is there any Update available?
I don't think Acronis is actively supporting Drive Monitor anymore. There have been no upgrades for a few years now.
Kind regards, Reinhardt
